Measurements
i
The tread depth is measured as the vehicle crosses over the modules at a uniform speed. If the vehicle crosses
over the modules too slowly, too quickly or unevenly, a failure indication appears.
i
Rocking motions directly in front of or on the diagnostic opening are not detected. Such motion can lead to
faulty diagnosis values.
7.1

Crossing too slowly

Description / message
Possible cause
R Crossing speed too slow.
Too slow (too few tire
R Stopping while crossing.
measurement results)
R Tired next to the diagnostic opening.
R Dirt on the modules.
R Tire too narrow (< 110 mm).
R Incorrect field calibration.
7.2

Crossing too fast

If the vehicle crosses over the modules too quickly, the
failure indication
Car movement too fast
number $02000303EA) appears on the screen.
i
Information on the failure indication or the last
crossing in general can be displayed by opening
an XML file (
192.168.20.10/special/last-xml-result)
browser.
Specification
Meaning
crossing_status Crossing valid (0) or invalid (1, -1).
crossing_
Indicator for direction of travel.
R Positive value = forward direction
direction
R Negative value = backwards direction
frame_count
Number of images made during the crossing.
The higher the value, the greater the number
of images available for the measurement. A
value over 30 indicates a crossing at 6 km/h
(+/- 1 km/h). A value of >140, somewhat less
than 1 km/h. The slowest possible crossing
has 150 frames.
FL, FR, RL, RR
Designates the particular tire:
R FL = Front Left
R FR = Front Right
R RL = Rear Left
R RR = Rear Right
Left, middle,
Designates the region on the tire:
right
R Left
R Middle
R Right
Result
Gives the tread depth in mm.
Confidence
Confidence is a trust value. The higher the
number, the greater the probability that the
indicated tread depth is correct.

Remedy / action
R Keep crossing time between front axle and rear
axle under 10 seconds.
R Position vehicle correctly.
R Clean glass plates on the diagnostic opening.
R No measurement possible with tire width
< 110 mm.
R Recalibrate TTM 2104/2204.
7.3

Rocking motion

i
If the vehicle drives over the diagnostic opening with
(error
one axle quickly, reverses direction and then drives
forward again, this is called a rocking motion.
Rocking motion leads to faulty measured values and
TTM 2104/2204 displays implausible values, e.g. a tread
in the
depth of 11.5 mm.
"
To prevent a rocking motion, make sure that TTM 2104/2204
is positioned correctly and that crossing takes place
at a uniform speed.
7.4

Direction of travel not detected

i
If the vehicle crosses over TTM 2104/2204 at too high
or too low a speed the direction of travel of one or
more tires is not detected correctly.
i
The direction of travel may also not be detected
correctly in the case of rocking motion or when the
vehicle crosses over only partially.
To prevent this error:
R
Drive across TTM 2104/2204 at a "normal" speed.
R
Avoid back-and-forth motion.
R
Drive over the middle of TTM 2104/2204.
