3 SAFETY
3.1 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Carefully read the instructions given in this manual and the data on the electric motor itself.
The persons charged with working on the motor must be technically qualified to do so, be familiar with
applicable standards and have adequate experience of working on equipment intended for use in
danger zones. All persons charged with operating and servicing the unit must be familiar with these
instructions.
Use the electric motor only for its intended purpose. Incorrect use or even the slightest modification to
the product may compromise its protection, safety and reliability.
Ensure the motor's maximum performance by following the routine maintenance schedule.
Good maintenance ensures the unit's optimum performance, extended service life and
continued compliance with safety regulations.
When working on the unit in areas which are difficult to access or which are hazardous, ensure
that adequate safety precautions have been taken in compliance with current laws on safety in
the workplace.
All maintenance, inspection and repairs may expose personnel to danger. It is therefore
essential that personnel be specifically instructed in the procedures to adopt, the potential
hazards and how to avoid them.
All work on the motor must be done with the motor shut down and disconnected from the power
supply (including any auxiliary equipment); take suitable measures to protect against
unintentional re-activation.
