5 INSTALLATION

5.1 INSTALLING THE MOTOR

All work on the motor must be done with the machine shut down and disconnected from
the power supply (including any auxiliary equipment); take suitable measures to protect
against unintentional re-activation.
The provisions of Standard EN 1127-1 "Explosion prevention and protection" and
Standard EN 61241-14 "Electrical apparatus for use in the presence of combustible dust
– Selection and installation"
data with the characteristics of the zone and flammable materials present must be
verified.
Check the certificate for any additional conditions for correct use.
Carefully remove all packaging and protective product residue from the motor, if present. Pay
particular attention to the coupling surfaces, taking care not to damage the seals or gaskets
with the solvent used.
Check that there is no humidity or dust inside the terminal box.
When first installed and after lengthy storage, check the insulation resistance
with a Megger ground tester (test voltage 500 Vdc). The reading at 25° C ± 15 °C
should be greater than 10 M
If the reading of the insulation resistance is lower, it may be necessary to dry out
the windings. Contact the Manufacturer to have this done.
Do not touch live components during or immediately after testing.
Make sure the motor is well ventilated (ventilation type IC411as per Standard EN 60034-6), that there
are no obstacles to free air circulation and that there are no obstructions to free heat dispersal.
Make sure that the fan cowling is positioned at least 50 mm from any surrounding equipment or
structures in the motor installation.
The installation should allow for execution of scheduled maintenance operations.
In case of outdoor installation, protect the motor from direct sunlight and the weather by means of
guards or a casing.
If the motor is installed with the shaft oriented downwards, a rain canopy must be fitted to
prevent solid or liquid foreign bodies from infiltrating (RC option).
If the motor is installed with the shaft directed upwards, the user must install equipment to
prevent solid particles from falling on the motor's fan cowling.

5.2 MOUNTING THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS

The motors are dynamically balanced with a half key, as envisaged by Standard EN 60034-14.
On double-extended shaft configurations, if the second end is not used, make sure that its key is
secured to its seat before starting up the motor.
The motor must be coupled to the driven machine using appropriate tools designed not to damage the
bearings or protection equipment – never use hammers during installation.
Always mount the transmission components to the tapped shaft end with the aid of a tie rod (use an
extractor to remove).
Before installing the transmission components, clean and lubricate the coupling
surfaces to prevent seizing, rusting, etc.
Correct alignment must be ensured to prevent damaging the bearings and to avoid vibration.
must be observed and the conformity of the nameplate
