Use of the touchscreen

The QuikRead go instrument has a color touch-
screen. The user operates it by touching the virtual
buttons with the fingers. The screen can be used
either with bare fingers or with gloves. The touch-
screen does not require much pressure, and pressing
too hard or operating it with sharp items could dam-
age the screen.
There is always multimodal feedback to touching
a button: the button press is indicated both with a
change in appearance and via an audible signal.
A command is registered when the finger is released
from the button touched. If the release occurs out-
side the initial button area, no command is issued.
