Installation of sensors

5.1

Installation of EC sensors

This point is only valid for PointGard 2100 EC.

5.1.1 Installing EC sensors

For PointGard 2100 EC, the sensor must be ordered
separately and installed following these instructions.
1. If the instrument is already in operation, activate the
function to change the sensor ( Sensor change function).
Otherwise, a fault is displayed when the sensor is
deplugged.
2. Loosen adjusting screw (22).
3. Remove the bayonet ring (21) from the housing.
4. Remove and discard the cover plate or old sensor
respectively.
5. Remove the new sensor from packaging and ensure that
the sensor is a DrägerSensor.
6. Insert the sensor into the sensor opening with the Dräger
logo facing up.
7. Reinstall bayonet ring over the sensor, and turn clockwise
until sensor is locked in place.
8. Tighten adjusting screw (22).
5.1.2 Installation of the EC remote sensor
enclosure
CAUTION
Explosion hazard
The remote EC sensor enclosure is not suited for operation in
hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
► Not to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Preparations to mount the EC remote sensor
A stainless steel mounting bracket is included with the remote
sensor enclosure (part number 6812684) to mount the EC
sensor on a wall or pole.

1. Install wall or pole mount set as specified in the assembly
instructions shipped with the mount kit (90 33 247).

Dräger PointGard 2000 Series
2. Screw the EC sensing head to the mount bracket (8) using
screw and washer (6).
3. Select the appropriate protection cap (7) and place it on
the screw.
4. Install the EC sensor following the procedure described in
5.1 Installation of EC sensors.
Connecting the EC sensing head to the instrument
1. Loosen adjusting screw (22).
2. Unscrew bayonet ring (21) and remove blank.
3. Route the bayonet ring (21) along the cable to the remote
sensor adapter (4).
4. Connect remote cable plug (11), to the EC sensing head
remote (12) and lock.
5. Attach the shield wire (13) to the grounding point (14) of
the bracket (M5 thread).
6. Insert the remote adapter (4) in the opening. The Dräger
logo on the sensor adapter must point to the mark on the
sensing head housing.
7. Lock sensor adapter with bayonet ring.
8. Attach the shield wire (15) to grounding point of the
housing.
9. Tighten adjusting screw (22).

The CatEx remote version of the instrument can be connected
to 2 versions of remote sensor assemblies.

A remote application can be connected to the instrument
using 3-core or 5-core cables. Cables should be shielded. For
