About these supplementary instructions
These supplementary instructions contain important information on the safe and
appropriate equipment and mounting of the extended HF03 valve system, as well as
how to correctly control the valves electrically (pin assignment).
O Read these instructions before working with the VS HF03.
O Keep these supplementary instructions in a location where they are accessible to
all users at all times.
Signal words and their meanings
O Observe the safety instructions and warnings.

For your safety
Intended use
Use the extended VS HF03 only for the purpose specified in the operating
instructions. The intended use of the extended VS HF03 also includes that
W
you comply with these supplementary instructions,
W
you comply with all accompanying documents,
W
you comply with national accident prevention regulations at the site,
W
the work described here is only carried out by qualified and trained personnel.
General safety instructions
O Before working on the system, switch off the pressure and voltage.
O Make sure that the tie rods (2) have been completely screwed into the EP end
plate (3) before mounting the valve block (see Fig. 1).
O Use the information in the assignment table only to assign the pins of a mating plug
for the multipin socket in the extended VS HF03 with the selected block configuration.

Device description
The extended VS HF03 (see Fig. 1) is a variant of the VS HF03. It consists of
W
an EP end plate (3),
W
a P end plate (6),
W
subbases for mono-stable and bistable valves (5),
W
tie rods (2),
W
valves (1) and
W
a multiple plug connection (4) to control the valves.
The main difference to the VS HF03 is an extended electrical control via a multiple
plug connection.
This enables control of up to 32 mono-stable valves. The extended VS HF03 is
available in 16 basic block designs (see Tab. 1).
5
Equipment variants
The extended HF03 valve terminal system can be equipped with mono-stable and
bistable subbases. The following combinations are possible:
W
Max. 32 subbases, mono-stable
W
Max. 16 subbases, bistable
W
Combination of mono-stable and bistable subbases
Mixed configurations made of bistable and mono-stable valves are possible. The
maximum configurations can be found in Tab. 1.
Important notes on equipment
O If the equipment is combined, first mount the subbases for bistable valves,
starting from the EP end plates, and then those for monostable valves (Fig. 3).
O Note the marking (7) for subbases for monostable valves (see Fig. 2).
If a mono-stable valve is installed on a subbase for bistable valves, the
corresponding connection for solenoid 12 remains unused.
6
Assembly
Danger due to sudden pressure release and applied voltage
System parts under pressure or voltage during assembly present a danger of
injury.
O Make sure that the system part where the component will be installed is not
under pressure or voltage before beginning assembly.
O Assembly work may only be carried out by trained professionals.
O Pay particular attention to the valid and relevant local safety regulations.
Always observe the operating instructions included with your VS during
assembly work.
If the VS is equipped with more than 16 subbases, we recommend not to
mount the VS on a DIN rail, as the mounting could become instable due to
vibrations during operation.
Mounting the retaining bracket
The extended VS HF03 must be fitted with
W
2 retaining brackets (when equipped with 17 to 24 subbases)
or
W
3 retaining brackets (when equipped with 25 to 32 subbases) to stabilize it.
The VS does not need to be disassembled to do this.
Observe the assembly instructions (R412008296) included with your VS
when assembling the retaining brackets.
Make sure during assembly that the retaining brackets have been
symmetrically distributed on the VS.
1. Make sure that the system is not under voltage or pressure.
2. Slide the retaining brackets into the recesses between two subbases on the rear
of the assembled VS until flush, and firmly screw each of the brackets to the base
with one screw each (e.g. with DIN 912 M5 x 10, tightening torque 5.5 + 0.5 Nm).
7
Creating/checking the pin assignment
The extended VS HF03 has a multiple plug connection (see Fig. 4 on page 7) on the
EP end plate to control the mounted valves.
The pin assignment of this connection is predefined by the selected configuration.
To ensure correct valve control, the mating plug must be configured so that each pin
of the multipole connection is correctly actuated by the controlling electronics.
Examples of the correct pin assignment of the multipole connection in the extended
VS HF03 for basic block variants 17 (Tab. 2), 1, 4 and 12 (Tab. 3), 6, 8 and 15 (Tab. 4)
are listed on pages 7 to 9.
Lay out the pin assignment for other basic block variants based on these example
configurations.
Use a connection cable for 24 V via an isolating transformer with basic
isolation in accordance with EN 20178, classification VDE 0160.
Preassembled cables with suitable multipole mating plugs can be found
in the main catalog.
8
Disposal
O Dispose of packaging and used parts in accordance with the regulations of the
country where the VS HF03 has been used.
