INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

STEP 1: Selecting The Location
1. For PRI (Indoor models) choose an indoor location near a standard
120 V a.c. wall outlet. Install the controller in an area protected from weath-
er, such as a garage, within 5' (1.5m) of a grounded electrical outlet. The
PR (outdoor) model can be installed almost everywhere, but avoid exposure
to direct sun or irrigation spray. The controller must be powered by a
grounded AC circuit which is not shared with any motorized or high current
draw equipment.
CAUTION: Do not place the controller where temperatures may
exceed 55° Centigrade (130° Fahrenheit) or on a circuit controlled
by a switch or on the same circuit as a high power user (refrigerator,
air conditioner, garage door opener, etc.). Malfunctions may result.
STEP 2: Mounting The Controller
1. Mount the hanger kit (2 hangers and 2
screws) to the top/back of the controller
cabinet as shown in Figure 1.
2. Remove the two screws from the lower
front panel and pull the panel outward
from the bottom to remove.
3. Position the controller on a wall slightly
below eye level. Mark the two mounting
screw locations at the top of the keyhole
slot of each hanger and the lower screw
hole located near the bottom of the cabinet.
Note: If installing the controller on drywall or masonry, install the appropriate
type screw anchors to prevent screws from loosening.
4. Install two wood screws into the wall in the marked locations leaving the
screw heads about 1/4" (6mm) out the from the wall.
5. Hang the controller on the mounting screws. The screw heads should be at
the top of the keyhole slots. Install the lower mounting screw, then tighten
all three screws securely.
STEP 3: Connecting The Valve Wires
CAUTION: The power transformer is protected by an electronic cir-
cuit breaker. Do not connect a combination of valves requiring a
steady-state current of more than 1 AMP at 24 V a.c.
(See power specifications, page 19.)
1. Route the valve control wires between the valves and the controller.
Note: Using 18 AWG (0.75mm) multi-wire sprinkler valve connection cable
is recommended. This cable is insulated for direct burial and is color coded
to simplify installation.
2. Attach the white color-coded wire to one wire from each valve solenoid
(either solenoid wire). This is called the valve common wire.
