a. Load evaluation/connection of the supply voltage
After connection of the supply voltage, the microprocessor
integrated in the 6590U-127-500 dimmer evaluates the
characteristics of the connected operational load and de-
cides whether phase angle or phase section control is to be
employed. The lighting unit may flicker briefly during the
calibration process (approx. 6 seconds). The dimmer can be
operated after this process has been completed.
This calibration process takes place each time a dim-
mer is connected or after connection of the voltage, i.e.
the voltage must be disconnected when changing the
type of load.
This ensures that the mode of operation of the 6590 U-127-
500 dimmer is also correct when e.g. incandescent lamps
are replaced by LV halogen lamps with conventional trans-
formers.
• Briefly switch off the voltage of the lighting circuit (at
least 30 seconds) when starting up the lighting unit in
order to activate the calibration process.
