Use instructions for NIOSH-approved full facepieces
Attaching the Respiratory Filters
The following description is valid for non-capped filters, filters, car-
tridges, or combined filters. For information on other X-plore respi-
ratory filters please refer to the respective Instructions for Use.
Position the two respiratory filters (1) – The line markings must line
up! – and insert them until they lock into place (2) by rotating them
downwards until a stop is felt (line marking of the respiratory filters
above the end of the arrow).
The respiratory filters are removed by carrying out this sequence in
reverse.
The two-point bayonet connector must be securely attached on
both sides!
The respiratory filters must be straight when locked in position.
Donning the Full Facepiece
The sealing line between head and full facepiece must be free of
hair and foreign substances as those may cause leakages. Specta-
cle wearers should wear mask spectacles.
Install mask spectacles if necessary
Open the straps as far as they will go.
In case of extremely low temperatures, the wearer should hold his
breath while donning the mask. This prevents the full facepiece
from fogging.
Remove the full facepiece from retrieval position.
Lay chin in the chinwell.
Pull the head strap kit over the
head and draw backwards.
Adjust the full facepiece.
Stretch evenly tight; first the
neck straps, then the temple
straps, finally the front strap.
Fit Check
If you use particle filter pads, always use the positive pressure test
to check if the mask fits tightly since the pad retainer does not seal
the cartridge and the pad base.
1) Observe the corresponding assembly instructions.
2) Observe the corresponding Instructions for Use.

NOTICE
Negative pressure test
Seal off both respiratory filters
with your hands or an auxiliary
means (e.g. a plane cardboard)
and inhale until negative pres-
sure is produced in the mask.
Hold your breath for a short
time.
The negative pressure is to
remain. If not, tighten the
headstraps again.
Positive pressure test
Seal off the exhalation valve of
the full facepiece and exhale.
The full facepiece must not lift
off the face. If air escapes via
the sealing frame, tighten the
headstraps again.
Always make sure the full facepiece is airtight and that two respira-
tory filters of the same type are fitted prior to entering a hazardous
2
atmosphere.
If the performance of the full facepiece is impaired due to operation
effects, immediately leave the danger zone.
Duration of use
The operating period depends on various factors, including the type
and concentration of pollutant, type of respiratory filters and environ-
mental conditions such as temperature and relative humidity.
Extreme Operating Conditions
In case of low temperatures: Treat the inside of the visor with anti-
misting gel "Klar pilot" to prevent it from fogging up. Hardening of the
exhalation valve disc is possible. Take particular care to check for
leaks.
In case of high temperatures: If the visor is damaged, leave the
danger area immediately.
In explosion-hazard: Treat the full facepiece with antistatic spray.
Risk of death or serious injury!
If the function of the mask is reduced by effects specific to the con-
taminated area, leave the contaminated area immediately.
After Use
Remove the respiratory filters and properly dispose in accordance
with local regulations.
Remove the full facepiece:
Insert index finger behind the
tabs on the neck straps and
press the clamping buckles
forward with the thumbs, pull-
ing the full facepiece off your
face and back over your head.
