2. Battery handles

2.1. Intended purpose / Indications
The Riester battery handles serve to supply the instrument heads with energy (the lamps are
included in the respective instrument heads). They furthermore serve as holders.
2.2. Range of battery handles
The instrument head described in these instructions for use fits the following battery hand-
les and can thus be individually combined.
This instrument head furthermore fits the handles of the ri-former
PLEASE NOTE:
LED instrument heads are only compatible from a certain serial number of the ri-former
diagnostic station onwards. We will be glad to provide you with information on the compatibi-
lity of your diagnostic station upon request.
For EliteVue:
2.3. Type C battery handle with rheotronic
To operate this battery handle, you require:
2 commercially available alkaline Type C Baby batteries
(IEC-standard designation LR14).
2.4. Type C battery handle with rheotronic
To operate this battery handle, you require:
1 rechargeable battery from Riester with 3.5 V
(Item No. 10691, ri-accu
1 ri-charger

2.5. Type C battery handle with rheotronic
for charging in a 230 V or 120 V wall socket
To operate this wall socket handle, you require:
1 rechargeable battery from Riester with 3.5 V (Item No. 10692, ri-accu
2.6. Type C battery handle with rheotronic
(for plug charging unit) To operate this battery handle, you require:
1 rechargeable battery from Riester with 3.5 V (Item No. 10694, ri-accu
1 plug charging unit (Item No. 10707).
2.7. Type AA battery handle with rheotronic
To operate this battery handle, you require:
2 commercially available alkaline Type AA Mignon batteries
(IEC-standard designation LR6)
2.8. Type AA battery handle with rheotronic
To operate this battery handle, you require:
1 rechargeable battery from Riester with 3.5 V (Item No. 10690, ri-accu

3. Taking the product into operation (inserting and removing disposable batteries and
rechargeable batteries)
PLEASE NOTE:
Only use the combinations described in Sections 2.3 to 2.8!
3.1. Inserting the batteries:
Type C and Type AA battery handles (2.3 and 2.7) with rheotronic
Twist off the cap of the battery handle on the lower part of the handle by turning the
cap counterclockwise.
Insert the commercially available alkaline batteries required for this battery handle into
the battery handle with the plus side facing toward the upper part of the handle.
Screw the cap of the battery handle firmly back onto the battery handle.
3.2. Removing the batteries:
Type C and Type AA battery handles (2.3 and 2.7) with rheotronic
Twist off the cap of the battery handle on the lower part of the battery handle by turning
the cap counterclockwise.
Remove the batteries from the battery handle by holding the opening of the battery
handle slightly downward and shaking a little if necessary. Screw the cap of the battery
handle firmly back onto the battery handle.
PLEASE NOTE:
The red safety foil on the plus side must be removed from all rechargeable batteries already
inserted at the factory or separately included in delivery before taking the battery into
operation for the first time!
PLEASE NOTE:
Only applies to Type C battery handle (2.5) with rheotronic
socket 120 V: When using the new ri-accu
that no insulation is affixed to the spring of the battery-handle cap. If the old ri-accu
No. 10692, is used, an insulation must be affixed to the spring (risk of short circuit!).

3.3. Inserting the rechargeable batteries:
Type C and Type AA battery handles (2.4 and 2.8) with rheotronic

CAUTION! Heed safety notice!
Twist off the cap of the battery handle on the lower part of the handle by turning the
cap counterclockwise.
Remove the red safety foil on the plus side of the rechargeable battery when taking the
battery into operation for the first time.
Insert the rechargeable battery that is permissible for your battery handle (see 2.2)
into the battery handle with the plus side facing toward the upper part of the handle.
