for insertion into the battery handle. Screw the cap of the battery handle firmly back
onto the battery handle.
3.4. Removing the rechargeable batteries:

CAUTION! Heed safety notice!
Twist off the cap of the battery handle on the lower part of the battery
handle by turning the cap counterclockwise.
Remove the rechargeable battery from the battery handle by holding the opening of the
battery handle slightly downward and shaking a little if necessary. Screw the cap of the
battery handle firmly back onto the battery handle.
4. Charging the battery handles with rechargeable batteries
4.1. Type C and Type AA battery handles (2.4 and 2.8) with rheotronic

4.2. Type C battery handle (2.6) with rheotronic
This can only be charged with the plug charging unit (Item No. 10707) from Riester.
To do this, the small round plug on the lower part of the battery handle is inserted into
the rechargeable battery (Item No. 10694 ri-accu
battery handle. Now connect the mains plug of the plug charging unit to the mains
supply. The state of charge of the rechargeable battery is indicated by the LED on the
plug charging unit. Red light signifies that charging is in progress, green light signifies
that the rechargeable batter is fully charged.
4.3. Type C battery handle (2.5) with rheotronic
230 V or 120 V wall socket.
Twist off the lower part of the wall socket handle by turning it counterclockwise.
The wall socket contacts appear. Round contacts are for 230 V mains operation,
flat contacts are for 120 V mains operation. Now insert the lower part of the handle
into the wall socket for charging.
PLEASE NOTE:
Before the wall socket handle is taken into operation for the first time, it should be charged
for up to 24 hours in the wall socket.
CAUTION!
The wall socket handle must not be charged for longer than 24 hours.

The handle must never ever be inserted in the wall socket while the rechargeable battery is
being replaced!

PLEASE NOTE:
Should you not use the device for a longer period of time, or should you take it along
when travelling, remove the disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries from the
handle.
New batteries should be inserted when the light intensity of the instrument
becomes weaker.
To get an optimal light yield, we recommend that you always insert new high-quality
batteries when replacing batteries (as described in 3.1 and 3.2).
If it is suspected that fluid or moist condensation may have penetrated into the handle,
the handle must under no circumstances be charged. Particularly in the case of wall
socket handles, this can lead to a life-threatening electric shock.
In order to prolong the service life of the rechargeable battery, the battery should only
be charged when the light intensity of the instrument becomes weaker.
4.4. Disposal:
Please note that disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries must be disposed of in a
specific way. You can obtain information in this regard from your local community or from
your responsible environmental advisor.

5. Attaching the instrument head

Fit the instrument head onto the receptacle on the upper part of the handle in such a way
that the two recesses of the lower part of the instrument head are seated on the two pro-
jecting guide cams of the battery handle. Press the instrument head gently onto the battery
handle and turn the handle clockwise up to the stop position. To remove the instrument
head, turn it counterclockwise.
5.1. Switching on and off
Type C and Type AA battery handles. Switch the instrument on by tapping the switch ring on
the upper part of the handle in clockwise direction. To switch the instrument off, press the
ring in counterclockwise direction until the device switches off.
5.2. rheotronic

The light intensity can be adjusted on the Type C and Type AA battery handles via the rheo-
tronic
system. The light intensity becomes weaker or stronger, depending on how often

you tap the switch ring in counterclockwise or clockwise direction.
CAUTION!
The light intensity is always 100% when the battery handle is switched on. Automatic safety
switch-off after 180 seconds. Explanation of the sign on the wall socket handle:
