LUBRICATION
When used correctly bar and chain oils/grease can minimize wear and extend life of the chain. Cutting systems operate in tough
environments and lubrication is key. When using grease always consult your manufacturer's recommendations as temperature and
other work-site conditions may affect the usage. Regularly inspect your cutting system and make adjustments as needed.
• DO NOT use hydraulic fluid or used motor oil. Usage of either will result in possible damage to the cutting system and will
void warranty.
• Used oils may contain particles that can damage the cutting system and increase wear and tear.
When starting machinery allow time for the lubrication to reach the cutting system prior to cuts. Always allow for additional time when
a new guide bar or saw chain is installed. Additional time may also be needed in colder temperatures.
• Run the saw chain at low speeds to work the lubricant through the system. Continue until lubricant can be seen at the
guide bar's tip.
• In order to minimize debris, which can cause damage, make sure a screen is being used in the fill port.
• When possible, use a light/winter-weight lubricant to increase your per-cut flow rate.
• CAUTION: Using the cutting system at high speeds for long periods of time may result in less oil being delivered. This is
especially true with frequency pulse type systems. Oil may not have a chance to flow into the pump cylinder if pulses are not
calibrated appropriately.
• Always verify correct lubrication on the cutting system with a visual check.
• It is recommended to periodically cycle the cutting system without cutting. This will increase the amount of lubricant, increase
guide bar and chain life, and ensure proper function of the system.
