PROCEDURES FOR MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
BD Veritor System Verification Cartridge
A Verification Cartridge is supplied to allow the user to perform a functional test on
the reader. The frequency of verification testing is dictated by local site regulations or
practices. A verification test does count as one test for the reader's maximum allowed
number of tests. All BD Veritor System Verification Cartridges must be obtained from
BD or from a BD-authorized distributor. Cartridges from other manufacturers are not
compatible with the BD Veritor System Reader.
To perform a verification test:
1. Place the BD Veritor System Reader on a flat, dry, stable surface.
2. Ensure that the BD Veritor System Reader is not in direct sunlight or exposed to
a bright light.
3. Check the BD Veritor System Reader for an inserted device. If a device is
present, remove it from the BD Veritor System Reader.
4. Press the front panel power button. The BD Veritor System Reader must
complete a 5 second self-test before it is ready for use.
5. When the display window reads INSERT TEST, remove the BD Veritor System
Verification Cartridge from the pouch and insert into the slot on the right side of
the reader as shown in Figure 2, aligning the insertion arrow on the cartridge with
the insertion arrow on the reader. Insert the cartridge all the way in until it stops. A
distinctive "click" will be felt when the cartridge is properly engaged in the reader.
