Warning: if greater force is required (extremely blocked CV
joints), you can always work with an optional mechadraulic
cylinder. (e.g.: Würth 1952 004 070 / 16 TONS)
Mechanical insertion of the CV joint
1. Fix the tie rods on the wheel hubs as described in step 1 of
paragraph "Mechanical removal of the CV joint". (Fig. 2)
2. Place the CV joint, from the rear side, in front of the wheel hub
keyway profile and insert it partially, if possible. (Fig. 11)
3. Screw the threaded adapter, corresponding to the thread on
the end of the CV joint, to the thread of the threaded traction
pin. (Fig. 12)
4. Connect the adapter and the traction pin with the threaded end
of the CV joint. (Fig. 13+14)
Warning: due to high tensile forces, be sure to
screw the adapter all the way!
5. Screw the thrust bearing support into the bell. (Fig. 15)
6. Fit the extraction flange onto the tie rods inside the wheel hubs
(Fig. 16) - on the side opposite the extraction side.
7. Insert the bell from the front into the support on the extraction
flange. (Fig. 17)
8. Align the semicircular recesses on the bell's outside diameter
exactly at the flange's division.
9. Secure the extraction flange using the washers and nuts and
engage the thrust bearing into the bell's support. (Fig. 18)
Do not use the pulse screwdriver!
10. Screw the compression nut on the threaded pin until it adheres
to the thrust bearing. (Fig. 19)
11. Act on the compression nut until the CV joint is fully inserted into
the wheel hub.
Warning: make sure that, especially during the initial
insertion stage, the keyway profile of both the CV joint and
the wheel hub slips exactly one inside the other.
If necessary, lock the wheel hubs using a mounting lever. (Fig. 20)
Removal of the CV joint with slide hammer (included)
In order to replace the sleeve of the CV joint on the wheel side and/
or clean and lubricate the joint, in some cases you may have to
disconnect the CV joint from the drive shaft. The difficulty consists in
overcoming the tensioning force of the safety ring that secures the
joint. Through some targeted blows, which are performed exactly in
