Exchanging the Piston Sealings

All oxygen-carrying parts of the booster pump as well
as the tools used must be kept free from oil and grease.
Oil, grease and other materials that are not suitable for
use with oxygen can deflagrate in combination with ox-
ygen and lead to serious injury.

 Depressurize the booster pump.
 Remove the cover plates.
 Remove the bolt and the hexagon head screw of the
head holder on the side of the pull-lever using two
wrenches (17 mm A/F) ("Exchanging the Swivel
Heads" on page 21).
 Remove the socket screws (1) on the respective side
of the pump using an socket wrench (10 mm A/F)
from the linear shafts (6).
 Loosen the socket screw (2) of the piston rod (5) us-
ing a socket wrench (3 mm A/F) and a open-end
wrench (22 mm A/F) for locking.
 Remove the shaft holder (4).
 Carefully withdraw the piston rod (5).
 Use the socket wrench (6 mm A/F) to unscrew the
four outer socket screws (14) of the piston guide (7)
and carefully remove the piston guide (7).
 Carefully remove the piston sealing (8).
 If necessary, remove contamination and dirt out
of the block (9), for example blow out with com-
pressed air.
 Mount the new sealing (8) using the special assem-
bly tool (10 + 11) (part no.: 6527117).

 Insert the piston sealing with the lip side in direction
to the inside of the cone hole of the assembly
tool (10).
 Place the assembly tool (10) onto the pump block
and place the piston sealing (8) straight line into the
block (9) using the plug (11). Make sure that it fits
properly.
 Place the piston guide (7) onto the block and use
socket wrench (6 mm) to screw only hand-tight with
the four socket screws (6).
Risk of injury. Mount the piston guide (7) with the blind
bore (13) showing upwards, otherwise the relief bores
of the relief valves are blocked. The pump cannot be
depressurized after use. Mount the lock washers (12).
 Carefully insert the piston rod (5) across the piston
guide fully into the block.
 Tighten the four socket screws (14) of the piston
guide (7) crosswise.
 Connect the shaft holder (4) with the linear shafts (6).
Use the flat washers (3).
 Slide over the head holder (4) slowly and carefully
onto the piston rod shaft (5). If the mounting hole of
the head holder (4) is rubbing against the shaft sur-
face of the piston rod (5), rotate it axially by 180° and
try again.
 Screw in the socket screw (2) into the piston rod (5).
Between the head holder and piston rod must be a
"floating" bearing (free clearance) over the whole
distance of stroke.
 Fasten the swivel head on the pull side again
(see "Exchanging the Swivel Heads" on page 21).
