Troubleshooting Guide

Error code Cause and solution
E20-00 There is no software present in the
E20-02 control unit
E21-00 Download Sigma software to
E21-06 the SD card, insert the SD card in
E21-08 the control unit and turn on the
machine. Replace the SD card if
necessary
E20-01 The SD card is not formatted
E21-01 The SD card must be formatted in
E22-02 a PC as FAT and download Sigma
software to the SD card. Replace the

E22-08 Delete files on the SD card and
reload software.
E20-04 The control unit has tried to read
more data than is accessible in the
memory
Insert the SD card again or replace
the SD card.
Contact MIGATRONIC Service if this
does not solve the problem.
E20-05 Software on the SD card is locked
E20-06 for another type of control unit
E22-03 Use a SD card with software that
matches your control unit
E20-07 The internal copy protection does
not allow access to the micro-
processor
Insert the SD card in the machine
again or contact MIGATRONIC

E20-08 The control unit is defective
E20-09 Contact MIGATRONIC Service

E20-10 The loaded file has an error

E20-11 Lacking communication to the

Replace the intermediary cable if
it is damaged. Check that power
source and wire feed unit fit
together (MK1/MK1 or MK2/MK2).
If this does not solve the problem,
insert the SD card again or contact
MIGATRONIC Service.
E21-03 The welding program package does
E21-04 not match this control unit
Use a SD card with software that
matches your control unit.
E21-09 The internal memory is to small
Welding program package cannot
be loaded
E22-04 DSP-PCB is defective
E22-07 Contact MIGATRONIC Service
E22-05 Data transmission error
Turn on and off the machine.
Exchange the SD card if the error
is displayed again. Contact your
dealer if necessary.

Fault symbols

SIGMA 2 has a sophisticated built-in self-protection system.
The machine automatically stops the gas supply, interrupts the welding current
and stops the wire feeding in case of an error.
Errors are indicated by symbols and error codes.
Temperature fault:
The indicator flashes, when the power source is overheated.
Leave the machine on until the built-in fans have cooled it down.
Mixed transfer: (only synergic welding programs)
The indicator is switched on and warns about the setting area as it lies
within mixed transfer with risk of welding spatter.
Current fault:
The indicator flashes when start current or welding current is
higher than permitted by the welding machine's efficiency.
Make sure that wire speed/current and voltage are set correctly.
Fault symbols:
The indicator flashes when other types of errors occur. At the same time
an error code is shown in the display.
Selected error codes
Mains supply fault:
The indicator is displayed, when the mains voltage is too
high. Connect the welding machine to 400V AC, +/-15% 50-60Hz.
Torch cooling fault:
Cooling fault is indicated on machines equipped with
water flow kit in case of no circulation of the cooling liquid due to faulty
connection or choking.
Check that the cooling hoses are correctly connected, top up the water tank
and check welding hose and branches.
The cooling fault is cancelled by pressing shortly on the
Gas control fault (option):
This icon can only be shown in case a gas control kit has
been mounted. Gas fault is due to a to low or high pressure on the gas flow.
Make sure that the pressure on the gas flow is higher than 2 bar and less than
6 bar, corresponding to 5 l/min and 27 l/min.
The fault is disconnected by adjusting the manual gas flow to 27 l/min. Gas fault
is switched off pressing down the

The indicator is displayed, if the wire feed motor is overloaded.
The wire feed motor or magnet valve may be defective.
Other types of faults
If other fault symbols are shown in the display, the machine shall be switched off
and then on to dispose of the symbol.
If the fault symbol is shown repeatedly, repair of the power source is required.
Contact your distributor with information of the fault.
When using the MultiFeeder or MWF 41 Slave, the following error codes are
available on the SIGMA :

is displayed when the communication between the
MultiFeeder or MWF 41 Slave and the SIGMA
is displayed when controlling the motor is not running
properly
is displayed when the motor is overloaded.
