3.3 - Functioning

ƒ The harvester coupled to the tractor is positioned at any point on the
plantation and, as it moves forward, harvest and gather all the plants within
the head working area. The plants are simultaneously harvested by the knives
and collected by the drums.
ƒ After being gathered, the plants are taken to the platform composed of four
drums. The two front ones pull and the two rear ones, being one of them
movable, compact the material in order to maintain an uniform feeding.
ƒ The plants are lead to the rotor where they are chopped by a group of knives
that work with a fixed counter knife. The chopping size is defined by the
feeding drums speed that lead the plants. The higher the feeding speed, the
bigger the chopping size and vice versa.
ƒ The forage is thrown by the rotor through the outlet chute. The rotating
chute directs the forage crop into a trailer engaged in the Harvester or truck
moving along with the machine.

3.4 - Required Tractor

The choice of tractor must take into account the hydraulic system lifting capacity
and the power required by the machine. It is recommended to use a category 2
tractor, with power from 65 to 95 hp in the power take-off (540 rpm), double
clutch with independent drive (PTO and engine).
The correct ratio between tractor size and machine weight ensures safety
during braking and maneuvering. The load lifted must not exceed the maximum
authorized load indicated in the tractor manual used (see machine weight under
'Technical Characteristics').
The Harvester uses the tractor's hydraulic system to raise, lower and turn the
outlet chute and move the deflector. To do this, the tractor must be equipped
with 2 double action valves.
