Should any operating fault occur (output voltage too high or too low, temperature increase, noise
emission, vibrations), promptly inform the technicians in charge of maintenance operations.
WARNING! This manual includes some stickers with safety-related indications: they must be affixed by
the installer according to the instructions found on the relevant sheet.
2. DESCRIPTION
The instructions contained in this manual refer to MXB-E synchronous generators. Before starting the
generator, carefully read this manual. This manual is intended for electrical and mechanical technicians who
have already worked on generators of this size. The technical data and the construction features are listed in
the relevant catalogue. To properly operate and use the generators, please read the instructions contained in
this manual. The MXB-E generators are self-excited and self-regulated brushless synchronous generators,
manufactured in compliance with standards IEC 34-1.
Protection Degree - characteristics
The protection degree and the rating values are listed on the rating plate.
Frequency
The generators are designed to operate at a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz, according to the data listed on the
nameplate: to ensure proper operation, for either frequency you need to verify that the voltage regulator
calibration is appropriate for the intended use and that the machines are used in accordance with the rated data.
Accessories
Generators may be equipped with various accessories, like anti-condensation resistances, thermistors, thermal
detectors, etc., as requested in the order.
3. HANDLING AND TRANSPORT
The generator is shipped ready to be installed. We recommend that you thoroughly inspect it on arrival, to verify
that it hasn't got damaged during transport. Any damages must be notified directly to the carrier (adding a note
to the transport document) and to Marelli Motori, if possible providing photographic evidence.
To lift and move the generator, use ropes suitable for handling, using the eyebolts on the generator
The eyebolts on the generator are suitable for the lifting of the generator only and must not be used to
lift the whole unit.
Also check that the lifting means capacity is appropriate for the weight of the generator and that all
safety measures relevant to handling have been taken.
When lifting and handling the single support generators make sure the rotor is locked to the crate by
the relevant bracket, to prevent it from getting out.
The weight of the generators is specified in the nameplate.
If the generator is not commissioned right away, it shall be stored in a clean, dry and vibration-free place.
