Vertically drive the rotor in (once the bearing(s) has/have cooled down), taking care not to damage the
O-Ring, if the bearing on the N side doesn't entirely fit into the seat, apply a force to the shaft head until
the rotor snaps into place.
For dual-support generators, finish mounting the D side shield on the union before moving the generator
to a horizontal position.
For single support generators, after driving the rotor, fasten the disc to the union using 2 appropriate
clamps, to ensure that the rotor doesn't accidentally slip out when moving and handling the generator to
a horizontal position.
Reinstall the plastic protections on the N side shield.
Perform the disassembly operation sequence in reverse order.
If any fastening item needs to be replaced, make sure that its type and resistance class are the same as
those of the original one. The following are the tightening torques applying to the fastening screws and
nuts:
Application
Electrical connection fixing
Fixing of soft material (aluminium)
component screws
Fixing
of
generator
(shields, covers, etc.) Fixing of feet or
flange
Fixing of coupling disc on shaft (on
MXB-E 180 only)
Tie rods fastening Chapter 6.7
6.7 Tie rods fastening procedure
In case of SAE 2 or SAE 3 flange (aluminium casting) which
have through holes ready for standard nut:
1. Clean the threads of the tie rods with Loctite® 7063
solvent and afterwards brush with a special brush.
2. insert the nut (M10-Class10);
3. tighten the nut up to the defined length (the tie rod
should protrude 1.5 mm from the nut).
In case of SAE 4 or SAE 5 flange (for dual support
version) which have threaded holes formed in the cast
iron:
1. Clean the threads of the nuts with Loctite® 7063
solvent and afterwards brush with a special
brush.
2. Insert the tie rod and tighten so that it protrudes
1.5mm. from the nutscrew.
