7. Putting into operation

Before use, always carry out
a visual inspection in order to
determine whether the cutting tools,
fixing bolts and the complete cut-
ting unit are worn or damaged.
A worn or damaged cutting tool
should always be replaced in order
to avoid an imbalance (see:
Maintenance, Care and Storage).
Only aerate during daylight or
with good artificial lighting. The
use on wet grass is to be avoided
where possible. Always ensure that
the implement is well and securely
positioned on inclines.
Only move the implement at walk-
ing speed. Take special care when
turning the aerator around or pulling
it in your direction. Bring the cut-
ting tool to a halt if it should be
necessary to tilt the implement for
transportation across surfaces other
than grass and if the aerator has
to be moved from and to the sur-
faces which are to be worked on.
Never use the aerator with
damaged protective devices or
protective gratings or if protective
devices, e. g. impact plates
and / or grass collectors.

Warning! Due to a risk of
A
injury, the implement is not
to be used as a motor hoe and for
tension handle in position (fig. A
pos. 1).
Allow the drag links to engage at
the required height and screw it
firmly to the hinged tension handle
to the left and right (fig. A pos. 2).
Warning! Ensure that you
A
do not trap the cable and
Bowden cable (fig. A pos. 8).
Warning! The safety devices
A
mounted on the implement
by the manufacturer are neither
to be removed nor are they to be
bypassed as this could result in
a risk of injury, it also being pos-
sible that the implement no longer
automatically deactivates.
When the engine is running, keep
your hands and feet out of the way
of the interior housing and grass
discharge.
Always wear closed footwear and
long trousers. Do not aerate when
barefoot or wearing light sandals.
Do not change the controller setting
of the engine and do not overturn
the controller.
Warning! The motor is
A
delivered without any oil
in the crank housing. Therefore,
before use it is imperative that the
motor crank housing be filled with
10 W 30 motor oil. To do so,
place the appliance in a horizontal
position and clean the area sur-
rounding the oil filling hole. Please
adhere to the motor manufacturer's
instructions. (The original instruc-
tion manual is included.)
the levelling out of uneven patches,
such as molehills.
Suspending the starter cable
Pull the starter handle (fig. B
pos. 11) at the motor and suspend
the starter cable in the holding
device on the guide bar from
underneath as shown (fig. B).
Protection of the environment,
disposal
The packaging material
is made ao recyclable
materials. Dispose of
packaging materials in accordance
with regulations.
Check the motor oil level each time
before you start work.
Normal (2 star) petrol is recom-
mended for use.
Warning! Petrol is extreme-
A
ly flammable. Only store
petrol in containers intended for
this purpose. Only pour petrol into
the tank when outdoors and do not
smoke while filling the tank. Fill the
tank before starting the engine.
Do not open the fuel cap or pour in
petrol when the engine is running
or when the lawnmower is hot.
If petrol overflows from the tank,
do not attempt to start the engine.
Instead, move the lawnmower
away from the area where you
spilt the petrol. Do not attempt to
start the engine until the petrol
vapours have evaporated. If you
need to empty the fuel tank, this
must be done outdoors. For safety
reasons, always install a new fuel
cap and other tank caps if they
are damaged.
To prevent injury due to burns keep
the engine/exhaust and the area
around the fuel tank free of grass,
leaves and escaping grease (oil).
