ADULT VICTIM. To demonstrate or practice using the FRx defibrillator to treat
an adult victim of sudden cardiac arrest, use the HeartStart Training Pads II and
the Adult Pads Placement Guide or a training manikin.
INFANT/CHILD VICTIM. To demonstrate or practice using the FRx defibrillator
on an infant or a child under 55 pounds (25 kg) or 8 years old, use the
HeartStart Training Pads II with an HeartStart Infant/Child Key [REF:
989803139311] and either an Infant/Child Pads Placement Guide [REF:
989803139281], or a training manikin. The Infant/Child Key and Pads Placement
Guide are available separately from Philips.
When the training pads are connected and the Infant/Child Key is installed, the
FRx defibrillator automatically goes into infant/child training mode. Its voice
instructions – including coaching in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) – will be appropriate for a child victim.
NOTE: Before using the HeartStart FRx Defibrillator, the user should read
all instructions provided with the defibrillator, including information about
when the defibrillator should and should not be used. It is recommended
that anyone who may use the HeartStart Defibrillator receive
CPR/defibrillator training or other physician-authorized training.
NOTE: The HeartStart Training Pads II cannot deliver energy and therefore
cannot be used for patient treatment. If the FRx defibrillator is needed for
patient treatment during a training session, replace the training pads with a
set of HeartStart SMART Pads II. Do not store the training pads with the
defibrillator.
NOTE: Using the training pads require power from the FRx defibrillator
battery. The battery supports 10 hours of use in the training mode, after
which the battery must be replaced.
