8 To install and connect the
heating hoses
Cars with M43 engine without IHKA only

Cut the heating hose to length as shown.
Supply hose (1)
Feed hose (2)
Hose sections (3), which are no longer required.
Cars with M52 and M43 engines with IHKA only

Cut the heating hose to length as shown.

Secure the supply hose (1) with the straight side on
the connection port of the auxiliary heater (3) using
a hose clip (4).
Secure the feed hose (2) with the short section on
the connection port of the circulating pump (5)
using a hose clip (4).
Cars with M43 engines without IHKA only

Remove the heating hose (1) between the cylinder
head (hot water outfeed) and the heat exchanger.

In addition two coolant hoses and a hose
holder must be ordered for cars with M43
engines and IHR (see ordering instructions on
page 2 for the part number).
Connect the coolant hose (1) to the cylinder head.
Connect the coolant hose (2) to the heat
exchanger.

Cut the enclosed insulating hose (3) into two equal
sections. Push the insulating hose (3) over the
supply and feed hoses.
Connect the supply hose (1) coming from the
auxiliary heater to the heating hose (4) coming from
the heat exchanger using a hose connector and
hose clips (5).
Connect the feed hose (2) coming from the
circulating pump for the auxiliary heating system to
the heating hose (6) coming from the cylinder head
using a hose connector and hose clips (5).
Secure the heating hoses with cable ties.

Cars with M43 engines and IHKA only

Cut the enclosed insulating hose (3) into two equal
sections. Push the insulating hose (3) over the
supply and feed hoses.
Connect the coolant hose (6) coming from the
cylinder head to the heating valve (4).
Connect the supply hose (2) coming from the
auxiliary heating system to the heating valve (4).
Secure the heating hoses with cable ties.
Cars with M52 engines only

Remove the shaped rubber part (1) and secure the
holder (2) with a hexagonal screw, size M6 (3).

Cut the enclosed insulating hose (3) into two equal
sections. Push the insulating hose (3) over the
supply and feed hoses.
Connect the coolant hose (6) coming from the
cylinder head to the heating valve (4).
Connect the supply hose (2) coming from the
auxiliary heater to the heating valve (4) using a hose
clip (5).
Connect the feed hose (2) coming from the
circulating pump for the auxiliary heating system to
the coolant hose (6) coming from the cylinder head
using a hose connector and hose clips (5).
Secure the supply hose (1) and coolant hose to the
holder (8) using cable ties (7).
9 Concluding work

Cut the bumper on the left-hand side along the
dotted line.

When marking the installation date, ensure
that you only remove the year numbers, which are
not required for the installation date. In other
words, the installation date must remain legible.
Affix the duplicate factory sticker (2) on the left-
hand Macpherson strut tower (1) as shown and
mark the date of installation.
Affix the label (3) that gives details of fitting the
relay, the fuse and the diagnostics connector on
the left-hand Macpherson strut tower (1) as shown.
Fill up the cooling system, bleed it as described in
the BMW instructions and check for leaks.
Reinstall all the parts in the car in the reverse order
to which you removed them.
