4. Carefully remove the CRT buffer test strip from
the packaging without touching the yellow test
field.
5. Place test strip on a stable, absorbent paper with
the yellow test field facing upwards.
6. Wet the entire yellow test field with saliva using
a pipette.
Note:
– Allow saliva to drop off. Do not scratch the
test field with the pipet.
– Prevent the formation of bubbles in the saliva.
7. To determine the buffer capacity of saliva,
compare the colour of the test field with the
colour samples (pictures) after exactly 5 minutes
of reaction time.
Evaluation
Blue indicates a high, yellow a low buffer capacity
of saliva.
Note
– If the test field is blotchy, rate the buffer capacity
according to the most unfavourable of the
colours present.
– If in doubt, repeat the test.
Disposal
Dispose of used test strips with normal practice
waste.
Storage
– Store CRT buffer at room temperature (12–28 °C
/ 54–82 °F)
– Shelf life: see date of expiration
– Do not use CRT buffer after the indicated date of
expiration
