7.3.4 Calibration in air (not for hydrogen sensor)
The sensor can be accurately calibrated in air. Calibration is best achieved using the storage cap that
protected the sensor during shipment.
1. Remove the sensor from its mounting or flow chamber, and wipe dry the sensor protection grille
(if applicable).
2. Put several drops of tap water in the storage cap, shake out the excess, and then attach it to the
sensor by means of its collar.
3. It is best to leave the cap slightly loose, to avoid compressing the air inside. The cap and sensor
should be about the same temperature.
4. Switch on the instrument.
5. Press the "CAL" key
6. A brief clearing ("- - -") message appears.
7. Press "CAL" again within 3 second.
8. The displays shows the measured current to ideal current percentage.
9. When the reading is stable, press "CAL" again.
10. Install the sensor back in place.
7.3.5 Calibration in line
An "In line" calibration routine is used when calibrating the sensor in place, against a liquid sample
with a known dissolved oxygen or ozone concentration. This is done by exposing the sensor and
adjusting the expected values with the instrument keyboard. To perform this calibration, the
instrument must be set for calibration "In line".
1. Switch on the instrument.
2. Expose the sensor to a liquid sample with a known gas concentration, and wait for the displayed
measurement to settle.
3. Press the "CAL" key.
4. A brief clearing ("- - -") message appears.
5. Press "CAL" again within a 3-second period.
6. The instrument should display a measurement showing the gas concentration of the calibration
sample.
7. Knowing the gas content to be a certain value, adjust the displayed value with the arrow keys.
8. When the reading is adjusted, press "CAL" again. The instrument displays "CAL" and returns to
the measurement mode.
7.3.6 Calibration in gas mode (not for ozone sensor)
The calibration gas procedure may be used when calibrating an oxygen or an hydrogen sensor.
When calibrating in a calibration gas, it is recommended to use the flow chamber type 32001 to
introduce the calibration gas to the sensor (see the Sensor Manual for details).
To perform this type of calibration, the instrument must be set for calibration "In a calibration Gas".
The Windows ATEX 3660 software is used in this procedure.
1. First remove the sensor from its socket or mounting, then insert the sensor into the flow chamber
type 32001. Connect a calibration gas sample of a known oxygen or hydrogen content to the flow
chamber's central port.
2. Switch on the instrument.
3. Expose the sensor to the calibration gas sample.
4. Enter the percentage of oxygen or an hydrogen in the calibration gas using the ATEX
3660 software "calibration Gas" menu.
5. Press the "CAL" key.
6. A brief clearing ("- - -") message appears.
