ENGINE IGNITION AND TURNING OFF

Starting the engine
1- Insert the key (E) and turn it clockwise
to position 1.
All the warning lights come on, except for
coolant temperature warning light (C).
The warning light (D) comes on to signal
the pre-heating phase of the glowplugs.
2-When the warning light (D) goes off,
turn the ignition key (E) clockwise (pos. 2)
to start the engine and then release it.
All the warning lights go off.
If the engine does not start immedia-
tely, wait for 10-15 seconds before
restarting.
3-Run the engine at a minimum speed
during the heating phase.
When the engine is running, indicator
lights (red) might light up and/or a
buzzer sound, to indicate the presence
of a fault. In these conditions, turn the
engine off immediately, then identify
and eliminate the cause of the fault
(See "Troubleshooting").

Turn the engine off
In the case of turbocharged engines,
before switching the engine off it
should be run at minimum idle speed
for a few minutes in order to avoid
damaging the turbocharger.
Turn the ignition key (E) anticlockwise
(pos. 0) to turn off the engine.
All the warning lights go off.
Remove the ignition key and store it in a
safe place known only to those in charge.
