User information

2.1

Important notes

Important information on copyright, liability and warran‑
ty provisions, as well as on equipment users and com‑
pany obligations, can be found in the separate manual
"Important notes on and safety instructions for Bosch
Test Equipment". These instructions must be carefully
studied prior to start‑up, connection and operation of
the FSA 740 Edition and must always be heeded.
2.2

Safety instructions

All the pertinent safety instructions can be found in
the separate manual "Important notes on and safety
instructions for Bosch Test Equipment". These instruc‑
tions must be carefully studied prior to start‑up, con‑
nection and operation of the FSA 740 Edition and must
always be heeded.
2.3

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

The FSA 740 Edition satisfies the requirements of the
EMC directive 2004/108/EG.
i
The FSA 740 Edition is a class/category A product
as defined by EN 55 022. The FSA 740 Edition may
cause high‑frequency household interference (radio
interference) so that interference suppression may
be necessary. In such cases the user may be re‑
quired to take the appropriate action.
2.4

Measurement category as per

EN 61010-2-030:2010
EN 61010‑2‑030 specifies the general safety require‑
ments for electrical testers and measuring instruments
and defines the measurement categories from 0 to IV.
FSA 740 Edition is designed for test and measurement
circuits of category III (motor vehicle testers), i.e. for
measurements on circuits with no direct electrical sys‑
tem connection.

Product description

Application

The motor vehicle system analysis FSA 740 Edition is a
modular test device used for test engineering purpos‑
es in automotive workshops. FSA 740 Edition records
vehicle‑specific signals and routes them via the USB
interface to a Windows‑based PC. The FSA system soft‑
ware is installed on the PC. The FSA System software
contains the following functions:
R
Motor vehicle identification.
R
Settings.
R
Vehicle system analysis with
$
Test steps (testing of gasoline and diesel en‑
gines).
$
URI.
$
Signal generator (e.g. for testing sensors).
$
Component test (testing of vehicle components).
$
Characteristic curve tracer.
$
Universal oscilloscope.
$
Primary ignition oscilloscope.
$
Secondary ignition oscilloscope.
!
The maximum permissible measurement
voltage at the multi measurement inputs is
60 V DC/30 V AC/42 V ACpeak. FSA 740 Edition is
therefore not to be used for measuring isolation
from the supply on electric and hybrid vehicles. We
recommend FSA 050 to measure the absence of
voltage.
For the assessment of measurement results, confirmed
"go" measurement curves can be stored as reference
in the measurement system. FSA 740 Edition has also
been designed to be networked with other ASA work‑
shop network systems.
The KTS modules enables you to perform control unit
diagnosis via the ESI[tronic] 2.0
Furthermore, it can be extended FSA 740 Edition to an
exhaust gas analyzer.
