A kickback is caused by improper or incorrect use
of the power tool. This can be avoided by taking
proper precautions as described below.
a) Hold the power tool firmly in both hands and
position your body and arms so they can
absorb the force of a kickback. Always use
the additional handle, if available, so that
you have the maximum possible control over
the kickback force or reaction forces at full
speed. By taking adequate precautions, the
operator can stay in control of the kickback
and reaction forces.
b) Never hold your hand close to a rotating
accessory tool. The accessory tool could
jump out of your hand if there is a kickback.
c) Avoid having any part of your body in the
region in which the power tool is likely to
move in event of a kickback. The kickback will
force the power tool in the opposite direction to
the direction of rotation of the grinding disc at
the blockage.
d) Take special care when working near corners,
sharp edges, etc. Do not allow the accessory
tool to bounce back from the workpiece or
jam. The rotating accessory tool is more likely to
jam in corners or sharp edges or if it bounces.
This can cause a loss of control or kickback.
e) Do not use chains or toothed saw blades.
Such accessories often cause a kickback or
loss of control over the power tool.
Special safety instructions for polishing
a) Do not leave any loose parts hanging from
the polishing hood, especially the fastening
cords. Tuck away or shorten the fastening
cords. Loose, spinning fastening cords can hit
your fingers or get caught in the workpiece.
Special safety instructions for sanding with
sandpaper
a) Do not use oversized sanding sheets: follow
the manufacturer's instructions regarding
sanding sheet size. Larger sanding sheets that
extend beyond the grinding disc cause personal
injury and may cause snagging or tearing of
the disc, or kickback.

Further safety instructions
Secure the workpiece. A workpiece securely
held by a clamping device or vice is much safer
than one held in your hand.
Do not rest your hands next to or in front of the
appliance and the area being worked as there
is a risk of injury if you slip.
RISK OF FIRE DUE TO FLYING SPARKS!
Sanding metal generates sparks. Ensure that
nobody can be put at risk and that no combus-
tible materials are located in the immediate
vicinity of where you are working.
WARNING!
Sanding materials such as paints, some types
of wood and metal can lead to the production
of harmful/toxic dusts. Contact with or inhala-
tion of these dusts can represent a health
hazard for the person operating the appliance
and any other people in the vicinity.
Ensure sufficient ventilation when working on
plastics, paints, lacquers, etc.
Do not soak the materials or the area to be
processed with liquids containing solvents.
Never work on moistened materials or damp
surfaces.
Avoid grinding materials that are harmful to
health.
Materials containing asbestos may not be
processed. Asbestos is a known carcinogen.
Do not use the appliance without a sanding
sheet fitted.
Never use the appliance for other purposes and
only use original parts/accessories. Using
attachments or accessory tools other than those
recommended in the operating instructions can
lead to a risk of injury.
The appliance must always be kept clean, dry
and free from oil or grease.
