• Be especially careful if you are grilling in colder weather or at a higher altitude, cooking time
will be longer.
• Strong winds will raise the temperature of the charcoal grill, so always stay close to the grill
and keep the lid closed as long as possible so the heat doesn't escape.
Follow the basic maintenance instructions to keep your barbecue in good condition and to its
best use for many years.
• For proper airflow and best grilling, remove accumulated ash and old charcoal from the bot-
tom of the grill before use. Make sure all charcoal is completely extinguished and grill is cool
before doing so.
• You may notice "paint-like" flakes on the inside of the lid. During use, smoke and grease
vapors slowly oxidize to carbon and settle on the inside of the lid. Brush charred grease
from inside of lid with a bristle stainless steel grill brush. To further minimize buildup,
the inside of the lid can be wiped clean with a damp cloth after cooking while the grill is
still warm (not hot).
• If you subject your grill to a particularly harsh environment, you may need to clean the ex-
terior more frequently. Rain, chemicals and salt water can cause flash rust to appear. We
recommend cleaning the exterior of the grill with a damp cloth and warm soapy water. Then
dry the barbecue with a dry cloth or paper.
• Do not use sharp or abrasive objects to clean grill surfaces.
