Note
The nib -arrow- on the sensors -2- must engage in the notch filed into the bumper covering (see also page 2, Fig. 2,
-arrow-). The correct position is visible from the outside, using the markings in the outer ring of the sensors for rec-
ognition - these must be visible from above.

Fitting the buzzer
all cars other than Cabrio:

Degrease the fitting site (right hand side of the boot) for the buzzer -1- for the parking distance control using a suit-
able cleaning agent, e.g. methylated spirit.
Fit the buzzer* -1-, using the double-sided adhesive tape* to the console in the boot.
Cabrio only:

The buzzer -1- of the parking distance control system is fitted to the rear right loudspeaker.
Remove the bench seat from the car.
Interior bodywork fitting; repair group 72; seat-frame; rear seats, remove and fit bench seat
Remove the rear right side trim.
Interior bodywork fitting; repair group 70; trims/padding; pillars and side trim, remove and fit side trim
Degrease the fitting location for the buzzer -1- using a suitable cleaning agent, e.g. industrial alcohol.
Fit the buzzer* -1- using the double-sided adhesive tape*.
Route the buzzer harness up to the control unit (see page 9, figure 1) of the parking distance control system and
then use cable ties* to secure it to the car's original cables.

Harness connections
1.6.1 3-door vehicles
only left-hand drive vehicles:

Pull the red wire -3- and the black wire -6- of the power harness* from inside the vehicle through the grommet
-arrow- to the fitting opening in the right tailgate light cluster.
Unwind approximately 50 mm of the vehicle harness protective tape, as shown in the figure.
Cut the vehicle's blue/red wire.
Crimp the end of the blue/red wire -1- to the connect -9- in a duraseal connector* -2-.
Crimp the free end of the blue/red wire -4- and the red wire -3- of the power harness* together in the duraseal con-
nector -2-.
Cut the vehicle's brown wire.
Crimp the end of the vehicle's brown wire -8- to the connect -9- in a duraseal connector* -7-.
Crimp the free end of the vehicle's brown wire -5- and the black wire -6- of the power harness in the duraseal connector -7-.
Heat-shrink the duraseal connectors -2- and -7- to seal them, using the hot air blower from the -VAS 1978- harness
repair set.
Renew the harness protective tape.
only right-hand drive vehicles:

Route the red wire of the power harness* from the control unit along the left hand side of the vehicle, starting
from the tailgate.
Secure the wire to the existing harness using cable ties* -arrows-.

Route the red wire -4- of the power harness* from inside the vehicle through the grommet -arrow- to the fitting
opening in the left tailgate light cluster.
Unwind approximately 50 mm of the vehicle harness protective tape, as shown in the figure.
Cut the vehicle's blue/red wire.
Crimp the end of the blue/red wire -2- to the connect -1- in a duraseal connector* -3-.
Crimp the free end of the blue/red wire -5- and the red wire -4- of the power harness together in the duraseal connec-
tor -2-.
Heat-shrink the duraseal connector -3- to seal them, using the hot air blower from the -VAS 1978- harness repair set.
