Omni Perfect
As soon as the pressure has been
reached, the red cap of the safety
valve raises – this is clearly recognis-
able as shown in image B2. At the
same time, the opening mechanism is
blocked to stop the pressure cooker
from being opened.
When the desired pressure has been
reached (level I-III of the regulator
valve), steam escapes from the regu-
lator valve. At this point, the values
listed in the section Notes on cook-
ing times apply (page 31).
Gradually decrease the heat from the
cooker until no more steam escapes.
When no more steam escapes from
the regulating valve, gradually in-
crease the heat from the cooker.
When steam appears again, leave the
heat at that level.
Depressurising
After the cooking time has elapsed, the
pressure in the pressure cooker must be
released before you can open it.
NOTE
►
The pressure cooker can only be
opened when the pressure has been
completely released. You can rec-
ognise this when the red cap of the
safety valve is at the bottom. (see
image B1).
There are two ways of releasing the pres-
sure:
Slow method:
■
Switch off the heat and allow the pot to
cool down slowly. The red cap of the
safety valve sinks as it cools down –
clearly visible in the inspection window.

NOTE
►
Be aware that the cool-down time is
part of the cooking time.
■
fast method:
To achieve faster cooling and depres-
surising of the pressure cooker, hold
the pot under cold running water in the
sink. Gradually reduce the cooking set-
ting on the regulating valve, until it is at
(image E1).
WARNING
►
Hot steam escapes during depressu-
rising. Keep a sufficient distance.
Tips on energy-
saving cooking
Cook vegetables and potatoes with
the minimum amount of water. This
enables you save up to 10 percent
energy.
Match the pot size to the size of the
hotplate surface. The pressure cooker
should not be smaller than the hot-
plate surface, otherwise 10 to 15 per-
cent more energy will be consumed
than necessary.
Switch to a lower heat setting as soon
as cooking begins.
Make use of the residual heat of the
hotplate for simmering and switch off
the hotplate a few minutes before the
end of the cooking time.
