5.6 SMART-CARD Connector
Enables the conditional access (disencryption) of encoded digital TV signals.
Supported disencryption systems (depending on model):
- FTA
- VIACCESS
- VIACCESS + MEDIAGUARD
- VIACCES + CONAX
The PROLINK-4 offers the possibility of supporting various conditional access
systems, so that video and/or audio broadcast by encrypted services (ciphered, pay TV)
may be decoded following the SimulCrypt model.
SimulCrypt is a process offering the use of various parallel conditional access
systems, together with the encryption algorithms specified by DVB-CSA (Common
Scrambling Algorithm) to control access to pay-TV services. The Transport Stream of
SimulCrypt broadcasts contains the keys for various conditional accesses, thereby
allowing reception by more than one type of decoder.
The user simply needs to insert the Smart Card in the connector designed for
this purpose before or after the instrument has acquired the list of services and an
encrypted service is then selected. After a few seconds, the image and/or sound will
have to appear.
