RENOK Rehydrator/Inoculator System
11.
Place the RENOK on its stand for protection when not in
use.
Maintenance
These maintenance procedures describe how to check the
dispense volume of the RENOK, replace the rubber seal, and
clean the RENOK.
Required tools
The following tools are required to maintain the RENOK.
•
Several transfer lids, standard seed troughs, and cover
trays
•
Gravimetric scale (at least 0.1 gram accuracy)
•
Small Phillips screwdriver
•
Several vials of Inoculum water with PLURONIC

Checking the dispense volume
Check the fill volume at least once per month, and whenever
low fills are suspected.
To check the dispense volume:
1.
Place one cover tray in the gravimetric scale, weigh the
tray, and "zero" the scale.
2.
With the cover tray on the gravimetric scale, follow the
dispensing procedures presented in Operating
Instructions, but inoculate the tray with PLURONIC.
3.
Record the final weight to determine the appropriate
inoculation volume. The proper weight of the inoculated
cover tray should be within a 10.1 to 12.0 gram
threshold.
6 RENOK Rehydrator/Inoculator System Instrument Guide - EN
If the weight is outside the threshold, retest the RENOK
using another transfer lid and trough, preferably from
another box.
If the weight is still outside the threshold, try replacing
the rubber seal.
If the weight is still outside the threshold after you
replace the rubber seal, contact your Beckman Coulter
representative or distributor.
NOTE
Make sure to follow the dispensing techniques described in
this guide to ensure proper fill volumes. Follow these
techniques before contacting your Beckman Coulter
representative or distributor.
It is still possible that the fill volume was inconsistent due
to technique problems, a faulty transfer lid, or a marginal
rubber seal. Assure proper technique and replace the
rubber seal if needed.
Replacing the rubber seal
Replace the rubber seal if cleaning is required or if you
observe dispense volume problems. Complete the following
steps to remove part of the RENOK unit body to expose the
rubber seal.
1.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from
the face of the RENOK and the four screws from the
bottom.

or
2.
Pull the body up and away from the base.
