Operation
7.3.2 Polytron 8100 EC-specific symbols
Symbol
Explanation
The sensor is ready for operation.
The sensor is ready for operation but is
close to the end of its useful life.
The sensor is still ready for operation but
should be changed as soon as possible.
The vitality is <25%.
LT
A LifeTest of the Dräger SensorAlive is car-
ried out.
7.3.3 Measuring mode
The following display examples show the Polytron 8100 EC.
Gas names are not predefined for the Polytron 8200 CAT and
Polytron 8310 IR. Gas names must be entered via the
DrägerPolysoft PC software. After modifying parameters with
the DrägerPolysoft PC software or another software, verify all
parameters by downloading them from the Polytron® 8xx0 or
by checking them directly on the instrument.
The following is displayed in measuring mode:

7.3.4 Special states
If the instrument is in a special state, proper measurement or
alarm activation can no longer be guaranteed.
This is the case:
– When the gas concentration exceeds the measuring
range.
– When a fault occurs.
– When alarms are deactivated.
– When calibrations are performed.
– When bump tests are performed.
– When a sensor is in the warm-up phase.
– When the system is in maintenance mode.
– When a Dräger SensorAlive is used and the system is
configured such that the measured value is not indicated
during a LifeTest.
For the current of the analog interface corresponding to the
analog signal, see 16.2.

The signals of the digital interfaces are described in the
following documents.

Foundation Fieldbus FF
Modbus RTU

Note for the Polytron 8200 and
Polytron 8310:
The message that the measuring
range has been exceeded can also be
caused by a short circuit or an inter-
ruption in the line to a remote sensor.
Value below measuring range
The gas concentration is outside of
the measuring range of the sensor.
