4.1.2.5 Connecting the device with relays (stand-alone)
The wires for alarm devices must be connected to the 9-pin
relay connector. A piece of wire insulation (heat-shrink tube)
and a protective cover are included for extra protection of the
relay wires.
1. Remove the 5-pin connector.
2. Connect the cable for the power supply to the
corresponding connection terminals, see figure H1 on the
fold-out page..
3. Bridge pins 3 and 4 of the 5-pin connector.
4. Remove the 9-pin connector.
5. Cut the heat-shrink tube as needed and slide it over the
relay wires before insertion into the 9-pin connector.
6. Position the heat-shrink tube at the edge of the wire
insulation and use a heat gun to shrink the tubing securely
onto the wire insulation.
7. Slide the protective cover over the wires.
8. Connect the wires for alarm 1 (pre-alarm), alarm 2 (main
alarm), and error alert to the relevant terminals as
indicated in the following wiring table.
9. Plug the connector back into the socket and tighten the
screws.
10. Close the device, see 4.1.2.9 Closing the gas detector.
The following tables display the status of a connected alarm
indicator and whether it indicates faults (e.g., power failure for
the gas detector).
The behavior of the relay depends on the alarm configuration
and the relay contact the alarm indicator is connected to.

4.1.2.6 Connecting the 4-20mA/HART
For connections to a control unit (PLC), refer to the
documentation corresponding to the control unit.
1. Pull off the 5-pin connector.

2. Connect the three wires for power and signal to the
appropriate terminal as indicated in the wiring table and
figure.
3. Plug connector back into socket and tighten screws.
4. Close the instrument, see 4.1.2.9 Closing the gas
detector.
4.1.2.7 Grounding
1. Ground the enclosure of the instrument locally at the
grounding lug, see figures G and H on the fold-out page..
2. Connect the shield of the wires only to the instrument
earth ground of the controller (e g. chassis, ground
busbar, etc.).
Unless special measures are taken (e. g. capacitive
earthing), the shield must only be connected at one end.
Information on grounding fieldbus and Modbus connections is
provided in the following documents.

4.1.2.8 Connecting the fieldbus interface
1. Pull off the 2-pin and 4-pin connector.
2. Connect the two wires for power and the four wires for
signal to the appropriate terminals as indicated in the
wiring table and figure.
3. Plug connector back into socket and tighten screws.
4. Close the instrument, see 4.1.2.9 Closing the gas
detector.
For further information regarding the fieldbus interface
installation consult the corresponding Technical Handbook.
4.1.2.9 Closing the gas detector
1. Ensure that the following connections are correctly
established:
a. The screws for the wiring are tightened with the correct
torque.
b. All cable connections are secured with screws.
c. The front port of the sensor is inserted.
d. The grounding cable that leads from the enclosure is
connected with the eye on the PCB unit, see figures G
and H on the fold-out page.
2. Place the PCB unit in the lower part of the enclosure.
3. Screw the enclosure lid onto the lower part of the
enclosure and tighten with the correct torque.
4. Tighten the set screw.
