MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: Always make sure that the power switch of the
Robotic Mower is turned off before performing inspection or
maintenance. In addition, be sure to unplug the AC adapter
from the power outlet when performing maintenance on the
charging station.
CAUTION: Always wear gloves and protective eyewear
when performing inspection and maintenance. Otherwise, injury
may result.
To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, any
other maintenance or adjustment should be performed by Makita
Authorized or Factory Service Centers, always using Makita replace-
ment parts.
Cleaning
NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or the
like. Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.
NOTICE: Periodically clean the machine. Grass clippings may
accumulate in the chassis or the charging station.
NOTICE: Do not wash the machine with a high pressure
washer. Doing so may result in damage or breakdown.
Cleaning the Robotic Mower
CAUTION: Be careful not to injure yourself with the blades
when cleaning the mower blades and surrounding areas.
CAUTION: Be careful not to get your hands or other objects
caught between the top cover and chassis or to injure your
hands on the edges of the top cover when attaching and
removing the top cover.
Wipe clean the surface of the top cover and the underside of the
chassis with a dry cloth or a cloth dampened with diluted neutral
detergent. Completely wipe away any dirt and clippings that have
accumulated on and around the wheels.

NOTE: Wash with water if very dirty. After washing with water, it is
recommended to let the machine dry thoroughly before restarting.
Grass clippings may accumulate between the top cover and the chas-
sis. Follow the procedure below to remove the top cover and also
clean the upper part of the chassis.

While holding down the display cover, lift up and disengage the parts
of the top cover indicated in the illustration one by one.

NOTE: Make sure that there are no obstacles around when remov-
ing the top cover.
NOTE: The top cover and chassis are firmly connected in three
locations. Pull up the top cover strongly until the rubber retainers
inside the top cover disengage from the slider shafts of the chassis.
When returning the top cover to its original condition, align the rubber
retainers of the top cover with the slider shafts of the chassis and
press down strongly.

NOTE: Check if the top cover is correctly attached to the chassis by
lifting the front and side parts of the top cover. Incorrect attachment
may result in detection failure of the sensors.
Cleaning the charging station
Clean away any dirt or clippings that have accumulated on the termi-
nal and base of the charging station.

Inspecting the mower blades
Follow the procedure below and inspect once per week.

Turn off the power switch of the Robotic Mower and turn it upside
down.

Inspect the condition of the mower blades and the rotation of the
blade base.
Check the following points.
Does the blade base rotate smoothly?
Are the mower blades excessively worn, cracked, chipped, or
bent, etc?

Inspect the condition of the mower blade fixing screws.
Follow the procedure in the section "Replacing the mower blades"
(Page 28) to remove the fixing screws, and check the condition of
the fixing screws.

NOTE: If no particular abnormality is observed in weekly inspec-
tions, lengthen the inspection interval.
NOTE: The mower blade life will vary according to the operating
environment. In particular, conditions such as the following will
shorten the life.
Long mowing time
Wide work area
Grass with thick stems and leaves
High seasons for grass growth
Dirt, sand, or other matter adhered to the grass
Replacing the mower blades
WARNING: Replace the mower blades according to the
procedure in this manual. If replacement is done by a different
method, accident or injury may result.
CAUTION: Always wear protective eyewear and gloves
when replacing the mower blades.
CAUTION: Perform the replacement work on a level and
stable surface.
NOTICE: Replace the mower blades approximately 2 to 6
weeks. The replacement timing will vary according to the mow-
ing frequency and the condition of the grass.
NOTICE: There are three mower blades. Replace all three
blades at once. Even if only one mower blade is damaged,
replace all three blades.
NOTICE: The following tools are necessary for mower blade
replacement. Prepare these tools in advance.
Screwdriver (plus) (Used to remove and attach the blades)
Φ6 mm metal rod or screwdriver with a length of 160 mm or
more (Used to fix the blade base)
If the mower blades are excessively worn, cracked, chipped, bent,
etc., or the mower blade fixing screws are worn, follow the procedure
below and replace them.
1.
Turn off the power switch of the Robotic Mower and turn it upside
down.
2.
Fix the blade base.
Align the holes of the skid plate, blade base, and blade cover and
then insert the metal rod. If the blade base does not rotate, the fixing
is complete.

Remove the mower blades.
Use the plus screwdriver and remove the screws fixing the mower
blades.
