SEASONAL ENGINE STORAGE GREATER THAN 6 MONTHS

CAUTION - WARNING
Before operating, make sure that the battery
cables are properly connected.
IMPORTANT
If the boat has been removed from the water,
provide enough water in the sea water circuit.
- Ventilate the engine compartment by means of a
bilge ventilator or by opening the bilge door.
- The fuel eventually left in the tank must be
treated with a protective liquid suitable for fuel in
table on page 14.
- Ensure the necessary supply of water in the sea
water circuit.
- To start the engine, keep a speed of 1000 / 1200
rpm until the engine operating temperature has
reached 80°C - 95°C / 176°F - 203°F.
- Stop the engine.
- When the engine is lukewarm, drain the engine
- Fill the oil sump with protection oil type Tectyl
915W40 up to the minimum mark on the oil dip-
stick.
- Wash the sea water circuit following the instruc-
tions on pages 51 - 52.

- Make sure that there are no liquid leaks. Elimi-
nate any leaks.

circuit up to the turbocharger. Do not exceed the
quantity sprayed.
- Drain the sea water circuit following the instruc-
tions on page 50, engine drainage and page 51,
sea water circuit washing.
- Switch off the engine as soon as the propylene
glycol has spread and covered the circuit evenly.
- Remove the oil residues from the engine.
- Clean the outside of the engine thoroughly.
Parts that show paint wear must be touched up
with the paint described in the table on page 14.
Allow the paint to dry completely and apply a
commercial corrosion inhibitor spray available in
specialist stores.
IMPORTANT
Do not dump any polluting material in the en-
vironment. Carry out their disposal in compli-
ance with the relevant legislation in force.
CAUTION - WARNING
After performing the storage procedure,
attach a warning sign, near the engine start
key, informing that the engine is in a state of
storage.
CAUTION - WARNING
Before reusing the engine, have an authorised
VM MOTORI FCA ITALY workshop carry out
the procedure for putting the engine back into
service after its storage period.
