Two value teach-in (BGS)
The sensing range is defined by teaching in at two set points (object leading edge/rear
edge).
The sensing range is placed in the center of the two set points.
A two value teach-in is suitable for environments with unstable objects and back‐
grounds.
Manual
Alternatively, the sensing range can be set manually to fix values by using the Manual
Teach-in.
Using the arrows on the display, select the desired teach-in distance and confirm.
The sensor offers three different operating modes to adjust to different application
requirements (ApplicationSelect).
Tap the desired operating mode.

Figure 21: Display operating mode navigation
Speed mode
Obtain data quickly with a reduced sensing range.
For applications that require a fast response time on the x/y axis.
For example, to identify a laterally encroaching edge at a high temporal resolution or to
count objects quickly.
Standard mode
Factory default; suitable for most applications.
For applications that require the best standard of device properties to assure a good
detectivity (range, response time and interference suppression).
Simply works in most applications fields.
Precision mode
Obtain data at a reduced frequency with a larger sensing range.
For applications that require a high precision on the z-axis.
For example, to detect small object in front of close backgrounds.
Sensing range increases and sensitivity rises so that shiny, dark and uneven objects,
even in an inclined position, are reliably detected.
