OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
SELF RETRACTING DEVICE (ACCORDING TO ANSI Z359.14, CSA Z259.2.2)
WARNING !
This manual must be read and understood by the user before using the DEVICE. You must read the following instruction before using this equipment, failure to do so
could result in injury or death. The test methods described in the standards do not represent actual usage conditions. It is therefore important to study each work
situation and that each user is fully trained in different techniques in order to know the limits of the various devices. It is the employer´s responsibility to ensure that
all users are trained in the proper use, inspection and maintenance of fall protection equipment. Fall protection training should be an integral part of a comprehensive
safety program (Z359.2). Proper use of fall arrest systems can save lives and reduce the potential of serious injuries from a fall. The user must be aware that forces
experienced during the arrest of a fall or prolonged suspension may cause bodily injury. The use of this DEVICE is restricted to qualified persons properly
trained or working under the direct responsibility of a competent superior. The user's safety depends on the continuing efficacy of the DEVICE, its
strength and the proper understanding of the instructions in this manual. The user is personally responsible for any use of this DEVICE which does
not comply with the requirements of this manual and in the case of noncompliance with the security measures applicable to DEVICE specified by this
manual. The use of this DEVICE is restricted to persons in good health, certain medical conditions may affect the safety of the user, in case of doubt,
contact a physician. Pregnant women and children must not use this product. Adhere strictly to the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
1.0 General Requirements, Warnings and Limitations
This manual must be translated (according to regulations) by the dealer, in the language of the country where the equipment is used. These instructions
should be supplied to each person using this product. This manual must be read and understood by the user before using the DEVICE. Each user must refer
to the regulations governing occupational safety and health (OSHA), as well as applicable ANSI standard (Z359.14-2014). See product marking. Before any PPE
implementation operation, set up a rescue plan to deal with any emergency that may occur during the operation. The products shall not be used outside its limitations,
or for any purpose other than that for which it is intended. Fall protection equipment should never be used for towing or hoisting. Do not use product around moving
machinery or near sharp edges and abrasive surfaces. ⑤ Provide a safe distance from the ground and the power lines or areas with an electrical hazard. Do not use
in an "aggressive" work environment: marine atmosphere, chemicals, extreme temperatures, sharp edges... Never remove product labels, which include important
warnings and information for the user. This equipment must be inspected prior to each use by the user and at least once a year by the manufacturer or by an authorized
person. (see 3.0 and 4.0) The inspection should be recorded on the enclosed annual record card. To minimize the risk of accidental disengagement, a competent
person must ensure system compatibility. (see 2.0)
INTENDED USE AND PURPOSE:
This product is inseparable from a comprehensive fall protection system (Z359.1), whose function is to minimize the risk of body injury from falls.
Fall arrest device have to be used as a component of a complete Personal Fall Protection System, which is designed to safely prevent a fall or safety arrest a fall for
authorized persons within the capacity range of 130 to 310 pounds (59 to 141 kg).
Before any use, refer to the recommendations for use for each component of the system.
WARNINGS:
It is recommended to assign a fall arrest device for each user. This DEVICE can only be used by one person at a time. ②
WARNING : Any static or dynamic overload may damage the DEVICE.
WARNING : The weight of the user, including his clothing and equipment must not exceed the maximum weight indicated on the fall arrest.
WARNING : Do not use the self-retractable fall arrest device as a restraint or work support device.
WARNING : In the case of contact with chemicals, solvents or fuels that could affect the operation, take the fall arrest device out of service.
Have it inspected and revised before use.
WARNING: Do not use a fall arrest device that has been subjected to a significant drop before it has been inspected and checked as it
may undergone damage invisible to the naked eye.
It is dangerous to create your own fall arrest system as each safety function may interfere with another safety function. No modification or addition
or repair of the DEVICE may be made without prior written consent from the manufacturer without using their procedures. Do not use beyond the
scope of use defined in the usage instructions, nor beyond its limits. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident after
a modification or use other than that provided in this manual.
The fall arrest system will be attached to an anchorage point above the user (minimum resistance: 22 kN). The device's anchorage point must
always be located above or level with the work surface. ②
Unless otherwise indicated, the fall arrest device should not be used in the "HORIZONTAL USE" configuration. ④
A pendulum movement can occur during a fall. In this case, the force of impact against a structure may cause serious injury or even death. To limit
this pendulum movement, the work area or the lateral movements must be limited. They should not exceed a 40° angle from the vertical axis passing
through the anchor point of the fall arrest device. ③
The deviation of the anchorage device must be taken into account to determine the required clearance. (see 2.1) For this purpose, the information
specified in the instructions for use of the anchorage device must be considered.
It is recommended not to suddenly drop the cable or the strap when it is unwinding. It is best to accompany it back into the casing.
During use, the overall system must not be in contact with: cutting elements, sharp edges and structures of small diameter, oils, harsh chemicals,
fire, hot metal, all types of electrical conductors... May provide a protective sheath.
For safety reasons and before each use, check:
- that the fall indicator (located on the swivel) is not triggered (the red color should not appear)
- that the connectors are closed and locked (Z359.12)
