4. Installation requirements

Connect the CIM 290 only to a
Grundfos host product with a dedicated
CIM interface.

Installation must be carried out by
qualified and trained experts.
4.1 Security
The CIM module provides a secure way of performing
cellular data transmission to the cloud. It uses
encryption and mutual authentication based on X.509
certificates for access authentication. The CIM
module does not accept any incoming connection
attempts from the cellular network.
The CIM module acts as fieldbus master for the
GENIbus and Modbus RTU protocols. These
protocols use the underlying RS-485 communication.
As this does not have any built-in security, it is highly
recommended to allow physical access to the
installation to authorized personnel only, and
otherwise adhere to the initiatives suggested in the
local risk assessment if available.
4.2 RF safety
Installers and end users must be provided
with these installation and operating
instructions and operating conditions for
satisfying RF exposure compliance.

installed with a separation distance of
at least 20 cm (0.66 feet) from
persons, and must not be co-located or
operated in conjunction with any other
antenna or transmitter.
