INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Before each use, the accessories must be carefully inspected, making sure that there is no dust, encrustation, lumps or liquid
inside the connection pipe, the vessel and its cap. They must also be cleaned strictly in accordance with the instructions given
in the section 'CLEANING, SANITISATION, DISINFECTION AND STERILISATION' . Personal use of the accessories, collection ves-
sels and connecting tubes is recommended to avoid the risk of infection.
1. Internal battery operation:
1.1. The device is supplied with a partially charged battery and it is advisable to recharge it before use. Insert the battery as shown
on page 1. Unhook and lift up and remove the battery compartment cover at the rear of the unit (draw.1,2,3); insert the battery by
inserting the connector correctly into place (draw.4,4a,); replace and close the battery compartment cover (draw.5,6). Proceed with
recharging following the instructions in section 2.3.1.
1.2. Start up the appliance by actuating the switch (2).
1.3. At the end of each suction treatment, always set the switch (2) to position 0 (even when the battery is empty) to save battery
power. If, during use, the red LED(1c) flashes and the buzzer sounds, this means that the appliance's autonomy is coming to an end;
in this condition, charge the appliance as soon as possible.
WARNING: In order to avoid having to use the device in an emergency and not having the support of the internal power source,
it is recommended to charge the battery at least once every 3 months.
2. Operation and charging via vehicle cigarette lighter cable (12V DC), or with multi-voltage power supply:
2.1. Cigarette lighter cable (12V DC) (20):
2.1.1. Use the cigarette lighter cable (20) to connect the external socket (18) of the appliance with the cigarette lighter socket.
Check the charge status of the vehicle or boat battery before use with the cigarette lighter cable.
2.1.2. Start up the device by actuating the switch (2); operation is indicated by the green LED (1a) lighting up. The device is intend-
ed for intermittent use 30 min ON/30 min OFF.
2.2. Multi-voltage (switching) power supply (19).
2.2.1. Connect the connector to the external socket (18) of the appliance. Plug the power cord into the mains socket correspond-
ing to the voltage of the appliance, at the end of the use of the appliance pull the plug out of the socket, it must be positioned so
that it is not difficult to disconnect from the mains. If the plug of the power cable is different from the mains socket, please contact
your dealer or authorised service centre.
2.2.2. Repeat the instructions from point 2.1.2
2.3. Recharging the internal battery by the vehicle cigarette lighter cable, or with multi-voltage power supply:
Check the charge status of the vehicle or boat battery before use with the cigarette lighter cable.
2.3.1. The battery is recharged by leaving the cigarette lighter cable or the multi-voltage power supply unit (19) connected to
the external socket (18) of the appliance. The lighting up of the green LED (1a) and the yellow LED (1b) indicates that the internal
battery is being recharged.
Charge the appliance for 24 hours the first time; thereafter, 7 hours (minimum) for model P1611EM-20 and 4 hours (minimum) for
model P1611EM-30 are sufficient.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
To replace the battery, follow the instructions on page 1. Unhook, lift and remove the battery compartment cover at the rear of the ap-
pliance (draw.1,2,3); remove the battery to be replaced and place the new one, inserting the connector correctly into place (draw.4,4a);
fit and close the battery compartment cover (draw.5,6). Then proceed with recharging following the instructions in section 2.3.1.
The flat battery must be disposed of through the appropriate collection containers or by contacting a suitable waste disposal centre.
The use of batteries other than those supplied with the medical device is prohibited. If necessary, please contact an authorised FLAEM
service centre.
GREEN LED (1a): when lit it means there is an external power supply (12VDC), i.e., the switching
power supply was plugged into the socket (18) of the appliance.
YELLOW LED (1b): when lit it means that the battery is charging, when off it means that the
battery is charged and ready for use*.
Only for model P1611EM-30: if the YELLOW LED (1b) flashes, it indicates that the battery is not
connected and/or is not properly connected to the circuit
(see draw. 4, 4a, 4b).
RED LED (1c): flashing and acoustic alarm active, both indicating that the battery is running low
and must be recharged as soon as possible.
*IMPORTANT: To recharge the battery insert the plug of the power supply unit (12VDC) into the
socket (18) of the appliance.
