5. Commissioning and operation
Electrical connection
The pin assignment is given on the product label which is located around
the edge of the case.
On the wetted parts of the instrument, small residual amounts of the
adjustment medium (e.g. compressed air, water, oil) can adhere from
production. With increased requirements for technical cleanliness,
suitability for the application must be checked by the operator before
commissioning.
Check the instrument for any damage that may have been caused.
In the event of any damage, do not commission the instrument and contact the
manufacturer immediately.
5.1 Ambient conditions
To ensure the best measurement accuracy possible, the ambient temperature on the
indicator case should be between 0 ... +40 °C [32 ... +104 °F]. Higher or lower ambient
temperatures can cause indication errors.
5.2 Installation conditions
Before mounting the probe, check whether the probe material used (specified in the
delivery note) is chemically resistant/neutral to the medium being measured.
The accessories are either fitted or located in a bag fastened to the thermometer.
5.3 Mounting the probe
If possible, the entire length of the stem should be exposed to the temperature being
measured. However, at least the length of the active part that corresponds to the
length of the expansion vessel (active length).
In pipelines or other measuring locations, the temperature probe must be positioned
as far towards the flow as possible.
Protect capillaries against bending. The smallest bending radius of the capillary
should not be less than 6 mm [0.24 in]. Any bending or discontinuities of the remote
capillary may result in the failure of the instrument.
The transport safety on the compression fitting in the shape of a rubber ring must be
removed before mounting the probe.
The welding or soldering of the remote capillary, as well as all permanent fixing of
the remote capillary, should be avoided, since this can seriously damage the remote
capillary and can impair the operation of the instrument.
If this is not possible, the limit values must not be exceeded.
