3.3 Functional Safety
NOTICE
We recommend the use of the PSU02 (Position Supervisor Unit) as a reliable evaluation unit, as
well as for safety functions such as limit switches, premature door opening, and unintended car
movement (UCM).
3.3.1 Operating Modes
Normal operation and error mode are the states possible when operating the measuring
system.
3.3.2 Functional Specification
To fulfill the various position-dependent safety functions in accordance with EN 81-20, the
measuring system has to be connected to a corresponding evaluation unit (such as the PSU02
evaluation unit). The unit has to correspond to the electrical safety equipment requirements
according to EN 81-20, and be in compliance with the protocol specification; refer to the
manual.
When the device is switched on it is in normal operation. The sensor delivers all 2 ms position
data.

Evaluation unit required
The measuring system is designed for the integration in safety-
related functions. For this purpose, it requires a superordinate safe
evaluation unit or elevator control.
