- operation in a closed place for more than 2÷10 minutes (consult the "Limits to operation" table in chapter 11 "Technical data");
- operation with accentuated stop/starts if an electric motor is used (consult the "Motor table" in chapter 11 "Technical data");
- operation at an altitude of more than 1000 m (may vary according to the utilized electric motor);
- operation at an ambient temperature of more than 40°C (may vary according to the utilized electric motor);
- a suction pressure of less than the required NPSH (consult the Caprari technical or commercial documentation);
- an operating pressure exceeding the limits in the tables (consult the "Limits to operation" table in chapter 11 "technical data");
- a rotation speed exceeding the limits in the tables (consult the "Limits to operation" table in chapter 11 "Technical data");
- excessively irregular operation caused, for example, by an internal combustion engine running at a low rate;
- operation in abnormal conditions for the internal combustion engine (consult the specific use and maintenance manual with which the engine
must be supplied).
Consult the technical or commercial documentation of Caprari S.p.A. and/or the data given in the order confirmation for the limits to use of special
versions of the product.
Also make sure that the product conforms to any pertinent local laws.

STORAGE AND HANDLING:
Store the product in a dry and dust-free place.
Avoid instability which could be used by wrongly positioning the product.
Turn the rotating parts at regular intervals to prevent them from jamming (consult paragraph 5.1 "Preliminary inspections" for the relative procedu-
re).
ATTENTION
For safe storage after a previous installation, the pump must be thoroughly cleaned with water (never ever use hydrocarbon
based products for this purpose) and dried inside with a jet of forced air.
The product must be handled with care and caution. Use suitable lifting means in compliance with the safety provisions in merit.
In particular:
- to handle the pump, use the delivery port as lifting point and, if necessary during positioning, also the suction port and shaft support;
- to handle the electric motor, use the relative lifting points with which it must be equipped;
- when handling the internal combustion engine, refer to the instructions in the specific use and maintenance manual with which the engine itself
must be equipped;
- never use the lifting points with which the electric motor is equipped when handling the assembled unit. Use a harness under the base frame
and
make sure that the unit remains stable during the lifting process.
Consult the data in chapter 11 "Technical data" in order to identify the weight of each individual component.
ATTENTION
Make sure that the unit is never exposed to weather conditions which, in view of its protection degree, could be able to damage it.
5
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION:
Dispose of the packing material as established by the local laws in force. Do not litter.
5.1
Preliminary inspections:
ATTENTION
Always make sure that the pump is free to turn by means of the extending shaft. Take care to prevent it from being damaged.
5.2
Plant features:
Make sure that:
- the suction pressure at the pump port complies with the required NPSH conditions (consult the specific technical documentation);
- when pumping from sumps, that the minimum dynamic level of the water is such as to prevent a vortex from being created (minimum indicative
submergence 0.5 m).
Make sure that the delivery pipe is equipped with:
- a quick-closing check valve to protect the pump from water hammers;
- an on-off sluice valve to regulate the flow rate;
- a pressure gauge.
Make sure that the suction pipe:
- is unable to cause air pockets to form;
- is unable to cause excessive head losses;
- is equipped with a foot valve to enable priming if the pump is installed above water
level (consult paragraph 6.1 "Starting").
Also make sure that:
- ventilation is guaranteed in order to prevent the air temperature from dangerously
increasing if the unit is installed in a closed place;
- installation allows the unit to be easily inspected;
- the unit is equipped with a flexible transmission coupling if possible;
- if the noise level of the system must be lowered, that the pump is connected to the
pipes by means of compensators in order to absorb any vibrations;
- the pump and pipes are protected against freezing when temperatures are liable to
drop. Failing this, all water must be drained out.
- when pumping hot liquids, the pump and piping surfaces which can get heated to
temperatures exceeding the limits indicated in EN 563 and EN 809 (first reference
80°C) are adequately protected by means of guards to prevent scalding of the skin
by contact.
ATTENTION
The pipes must be supported near the pump casing since this latter
must absolutely not act as a supporting point.
The forces (F) and moments (M) transmitted by the pipes owing to
heat expansion, actual weight, misalignments, lack of expansion
joints for example, may act on the suction and delivery ports at the
same time, but must never exceed the maximum tolerated values
given in the "Limits to use" table in chapter 11 "Technical data".
