Running and inspections: ATTENTION
Once installed, the product will require no particular maintenance. To ensure continuously regular operation it is, however, necessary to make
periodical preventive inspections on first start-up and at least once every 1000÷1500 hours service, during which it will be necessary to:
- make sure that the values on the operating brief remain within the normal field of use (consult the "Operating data summary" chapter and the
technical or commercial documentation of Caprari S.p.A.);
- adjust the packing gland when installed, working evenly on both nuts to ensure a slight dripping during operation;
GB
- check, especially when an internal combustion engine is used, that the rotation speed is not excessive (consult the "Limits to use" table in
chapter 11 "Technical data");
- make sure, if an internal combustion engine is installed, that operation is not excessively irregular owing to operation at a low rate, for example;
- when an electric motor is installed, make sure that the power draw does not exceed the data plate values, especially during the initial operating
phases. Failing this, throttle the flow rate by means of the delivery pipe sluice valve;
- make sure that the flow rate or operating pressure are within the normal field of use (consult the technical or commercial documentation of
Caprari S.p.A.);
- make sure that the temperature of the oil is no more than 80°C;
- change the oil in the bearing housing after the first 200 hours service and, following this, after every 1000÷1500 hours service (consult
paragraph 6.3 "Maintenance" for a description of the procedure);
- make sure that the motor cooling system is clean;
- if the unit has a flexible coupling, make sure that the rubber plugs are not worn checking, whilst the machine is at a standstill, that the relative
angular movement between the two half-couplings is not more than double the initial value.
After a brief period to allow the unit to bed in, make sure that the pump and motor are still perfectly aligned (consult points 7 and 8 of paragraph
5.3 "Mechanical connections" for a description of the procedure).
Proceed as indicated in this manual if operation is irregular (consult the "Troubleshooting" chapter).
6.3
Maintenance
Routine maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by specialized technicians.
Extraordinary maintenance must only be carried out by authorized specialized workshops.
Removal.
If the product must be disassembled from the system, check the weight of the various components as they are demounted and ensure their
stability (consult chapter 4 "Handling and storage").
Replacing the oil in the support:
1) remove the drain plug and allow the oil to flow into a vessel;
2) pour in the right quantity and type of new oil (consult the "Pump table" in chapter 12 "Dimensions and weights");
3) ensure that the quantity is right by checking the oil level dipstick;
4) when disposing of the old oil, strictly comply with the laws and provisions in force.
Replacing the packing gland:
1) remove the gland adjuster screws and allow the gland to slide;
2) replace the sealing material;
3) ATTENTION adjust the packing gland by working evenly on both nuts in order to ensure a slight drip during operation;
4) restore the initial conditions.
Replacing the mechanical seal:
Contact an authorized after-sales service center.
Replacing the coupling plugs: ATTENTION this must only be done by specialized personnel:
1) remove the coupling guard (with the exception of MEC-MG);
2) denount the driving machine or pump the base or from the internal combustion engine if the pump is a mod. MEC-MG;
3) move the components axially to access the rubber plugs after the two half-couplings have been uncoupled;
4) replace the worn material;
5) re-assemble the unit, consulting the instructions in paragraph 5.3 "Mechanical connections" from point 5 onwards;
6) check pump-motor alignment again both after having re-assembled the unit and after a brief period of operation (with the exception of
MEC-MG).
