Mechanical connections:
Pump and motor assembly.
the base on which the pump and motor are rigidly fixed, must be appropriately sized according to the weight of the unit and the stress to which it
will be subjected during operation.
When a base complete with transmission coupling (BGA) is purchased from Caprari, the characteristic dimensions can be found in chapter 11
"Technical data". In particular, the "Base" column merely gives the first number of the serial number as a reference (eg. BGA 35/2 - will be
indicated as Base 35).
GB
Comply with the following instructions when assembling (consult chapter 4 "Handling and storage" when handling the various components):
1) thoroughly clean the coupling surfaces;
2) fix the pump to the base by means of the relative fixing points;
3) mount the two half-couplings on the pump and motor sides, to the relative shaft ends
making sure that all the rubber plugs are present;
4) place the motor on the base;
5) connect the two half-couplings and make sure that there is a 3÷4 mm gap. between the
two opposite faces;
6) measure the angular play between the two half-couplings and note it for future reference,
making indelible reference marks on the side surface to allow subsequent checks for wear;
7) make sure that the pump and motor are perfectly aligned. Check this both visually and with
a straightedge placed along the couplings in at least two points at 90° to each other;
8) if necessary, compensate for any misalignments by shimming under the support feet;
9) bolt the unit to the base;
10)
mount the guard over the drive transmission component together with any other
protections as may be necessary in order to complywith the safety requirements.
Installing the completed unit on the foundation.
The unit must be rigidly fixed to a stable and strong load bearing surface, using the relative fixing holes.
To prevent bending stress from being transmitted to the base, use shims to compensate for any misalignments between the fixing points and
mounting surface.
ATTENTION
After the unit has been installed on the foundation, make sure that the pump and motor are perfectly aligned in compliance with
the procedure described in points 7 and 8 of this paragraph.
Pump and internal conbustion engine assembly (series MEC-MG)
Comply with the following instructions to assemble the equipment (refer to chapter 4 "Storage and handling" when handling the various
components):
1) thoroughly clean the coupling surfaces;
2) fix the half-coupling on the engine side;
3) insert the half-coupling on the pump side into the relative shaft and lock it at the established level n (see chapter 12 "Overall dimensions and weights");
4) make sure that all rubber pads are installed, then near the pump to the internal combustion engine and fix it in place.
5) When the installation requires the bearing foot, fix this latter to the base, remembering to shim or adjust to prevent radial forcing during the
fixing phase.
5.4
Hydraulic connections:
Connection to the suction and delivery ports is made by means of flanges with standard holes.
ATTENTION
After having connected the pipes, make sure that the pump and motor are perfectly aligned in compliance with the procedure
described in points 7 and 8 of paragraph 5.3 "Mechanical connections".
5.5
Electrical connections and information (when necessary):
All electrical connections must be made by qualified personnel in strict compliance with all the accident-preventing provisions in
force, according to the wiring diagrams in the manual and those enclosed with the control panels.
All yellow-green grounding conductors must be connected to the grounding circuit of the system before the other conductors are
connected. The grounding conductors must be the last to be removed if the motor is disconnected.
The free ends of the cables must never be immersed or wetted in any way.
Electrical equipment.
Make sure that the electric control panel complies with the current accident-prevention standards and provisions. In particular, the
protection degree should suit the place of installation.
It is advisable to install electrical equipment in dry, well ventilated placed. Ambient temperatures should not be extreme (eg. -20°C to +40°C).
Failing this, install a special version of the equipment.
ATTENTION
The contacts of undersized or poor quality electrical equipment will quickly deteriorate. The motor power supply will
consequently become unbalanced and could damage the motor itself.
Unless it is correctly researched and implemented, use of the INVERTER and SOFT-STARTER can damage the pumping unit. Ask
for assistance from the Caprari Technical Departments if the relative difficulties are not known.
Installation of good quality electrical equipment will ensure reliable and safe operation.
All starting equipment must always be equipped with:
1) a main isolator
2) a fuse-folder of adequate size or magnetic protection against short-circuits;
3) a quick-tripping threepole contactor of high cutoff power;
4) quick tripping threepole thermic relay with manual reset at compensated ambient temperature to protect against overloads and phase failures;
- the following are also recommended -
5) a voltmetric relay to protect against voltage drops;
6) a device to protect against dry operation;
7) a voltmeter and an ammeter.
