II.8
NATURE AND FREQUENCY OF THE
PROGRAMMED CHECKS
DANGER !
Maintenance operation s, even if for inspection
purposes only, mu st be carried out b y skilled
technicians, qu alified for working on air
conditioning and refrig erant products.
DANGER !
Always use the switch to isolate the unit from the
mains b efore carr ying out an y mainten ance work
on the unit, even if it is for insp ection purposes
only. Make sure that no one accidentally supplies
power to the machine – lo ck the master switch in
the zero position.
In order to guarantee that the unit runs regularly and efficientl y, it is
necess ary to schedul e an overall inspection at regular inter vals to
prevent malfunctions which could damage the main mac hine
components.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE
DANGER !
Maintenance operation s, even if for inspection
purposes only, mu st be carried out b y skilled
technicians, qu alified for working on air
conditioning and refrig erant products. Use suitable
personal protection (gloves, eye protection etc).
DANGER !
Always use the switch to isolate the unit from the
mains b efore carr ying out an y mainten ance work on
the unit, even if it is for insp ection purposes only.
Make sure that no one accid entally supplies po wer
to the machine – lock the master switch in the zero
position.
DANGER !
In the case of cooling or fan cir cuit component
breakage or a drop in the coolant gas load, the
upper part of the compr essor casing and the
discharg e lin e m ay r each temperatures as high as
180°C for brief per iods of time.
II.9.1
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
SAFEGUARD THE EN VIRONMENT !
If the system has an antifreeze additive, it mu st not
be drain ed freely, b ecause it causes pollution. It
should be co llected for possible recycling. The
filling valve must not be op ened in the presence of
glycol water.
II.9.1.1
Inspection of the complete unit
Cleaning the unit and chec king the general state of the machine. Any
points of c orrosion will be appr opriately touched-up with protec tive
paints .

II.9.1.2
Inspection of the electric circuit
Check the earth connection: with the unit off and disc onnected
from the power suppl y, c hec k the state of the earth.
Checking and insp ecting electric contacts: with unit off and
disconnected from the power suppl y, chec k the state and tightness of
the wiring to the ter minals.
Checking absorption: usi ng a clip-on ammeter, evaluate the
absorption value and compare it with the pl ate data given in the
technical data table.
II.9.1.3
Inspecting the refrigerant circuit
Checking r efriger ant fluid load: With the unit off, fit a press ure
gauge on the test point on the outlet side and another on the test point
on the i nlet si de. Start up the unit and chec k both press ure readings
once they have s tabilised.
Check that ther e ar e no r efriger ant fluid leaks: with unit off and
appropriate leak detector, chec k the c ooling circuit paying attention to
the c onnecti on points and i n proxi mity of the l oad connec tions .
Inspection of the compressors: ever y 3000 func tioning hours of
the c ompressor, the circuit board shows an alar m without interruption of
unit functi oning. It is a warning that the compress or must be i nspected.
The ins pecti on to be performed envisions the machi ne off and a visual
chec k of the s tates of the c onnections, with wiring and the status of the
rubber anti- vibrati on mounts. With unit on, chec k whether the
compressors vibrate or make anomalous noise, s uch to request
extraordi nar y maintenanc e.
