The effect unit is connected via the unbalanced
GB
6.3 mm jacks AUX SEND (12) and STREO AUX
RETURNS (11):
1) Connect the input of the effect unit to the mono out-
put AUX SEND.
2) Connect the output of the effect unit to the stereo
input STEREO AUX RETURNS. For an effect unit
with mono output, only use the jack L (MONO).
4.3 Recorder
A recorder can be connected to the phono jacks
TAPE/RECORD:
1) For reproduction, connect the output of the recorder
to the stereo input TAPE IN (14).
2) For recording, connect the input of the recorder to
the stereo output REC OUT (15). The output REC
OUT will receive the master signal adjusted with the
control MAIN MIX (27).
4.4 Connecting an amplifier and headphones
Connect the main amplifier for PA applications to the
unbalanced 6.3 mm jacks MAIN OUT (13).
The sound mix can be monitored via a monitor sys-
tem and/or stereo headphones. Connect the amplifier
of the monitor system to the unbalanced 6.3 mm jacks
CTRL R OUT (16); connect headphones (minimum
impedance 32 Ω) to the 6.3 mm jack PHONES (17).
The master signal adjusted with the control MAIN MIX
(27) will be sent to all three outputs.

4.5 Connecting the power supply

Connect the power supply unit provided to the jack AC
POWER IN (2). Tighten the nut on the plug to prevent
disconnection. Then connect the mains plug of the
power supply unit to a mains socket (230 V~/50 Hz).
5
Operation
5.1 Switching on
1) To prevent switching noise, set the master control
MAIN MIX (27) to the left stop before switching on.
2) Depending on the type of microphone connected to
the channels 1 and 2, either engage or disengage
the button +48 V PHANTOM POWER (21) [→ chap-
ter 4.1.1].
3) Switch on the mixer with the POWER switch (1).
When the unit is switched on, the POWER LED (25)
will light up.
If the mixer is not used for a longer period after opera-
tion, disconnect the plug of the power supply unit from
the mains socket as it will have a low power consump-
tion even with the mixer switched off.

5.2 Mixing the audio sources

CAUTION Never adjust the speakers and the
headphones to a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! The human ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which do
not seem to be that high after some
time. Therefore, do not further increase
a high volume after getting used to it.
The following operating steps merely serve as an aid;
other procedures are also possible.
1) First make the following basic adjustments:
a) Set all GAIN controls (5), all equalizer controls
(6) and all PAN controls and BAL controls (9) to
mid-position.
b) Disengage the two buttons TAPE TO CONTROL
(22) and TAPE TO MIX (23).
c) Set all AUX/EFF controls (7) and all LEVEL con-
trols (10) to the left stop.
d) Set the control MAIN MIX (27) for the overall vol-
2
ume to approx.
2) For optimum level control of channel 1, feed an
audio signal to the channel and advance the vol-
ume control LEVEL (10) of the channel to such an
extent that the LED VU-meter (26) will light up at
0 dB
approximately.
advanced to approx.
advanced too far or not far enough, adapt the input
amplification of the signal with the GAIN control (5).
Then adjust the sound with the three equalizer con-
trols (6) of the channel (HIGH, MID, LOW). The
overload LED PEAK (8) of the channel should
shortly light up with music peaks, if at all. If it is per-
manently illuminated, turn back the GAIN control
and/or the equalizer controls accordingly.
Fully turn back the LEVEL control of channel 1
and control the level of channel 2 in the same way.
3) For optimum sound adjustment of the stereo chan-
nels 3/4 and 5/6 with the equalizer controls (6),
advance the LEVEL control (10) of the correspond-
ing stereo channel to such an extent that the LED
VU-meter (26) will light up at 0 dB approximately
and fully turn back all other LEVEL controls.
4) After optimum level control of all GAIN controls and
equalizer controls, mix the signals of the input chan-
nels 1 to 5/6 in the desired volume ratio with the
LEVEL controls (10).
Always set the LEVEL controls of any channels
that are not used to the left stop.
5) Use the PAN/BAL controls (9) to place the mono
signals of the channels 1 to 5/6 in the stereo sound
and adjust the balance of the stereo signals for the
channels 3/4 and 5/6.
6) If an effect unit is connected, see chapter 5.2.1 for
adjusting the effect way.
7) If an additional audio source is connected to the
input STEREO AUX RETURNS (11), mix its signal
of its maximum.
