Power supply and start-up

WARNING
Unauthorised voltage or frequency!
Risk of accident
The mains voltage and the frequency of
the power source must correspond with
the specifications on the machine's name
plate.
In North America, only Festool machines
with the voltage specifications 120 V/60
Hz may be used.
The switch-/socket-unit [8-1] serves as
voltage supply and as ON-/OFF-switch of a
power tool build into the CMS-GE.
Insert the plug into an earthed socket.
Plug the electric power tool installed in the
CMS-GE into the connector .
You can now use the switch/connector
unit to switch the portable circular saw on
and off (see operating instructions for the
CMS-GE).

Settings

WARNING
Risk of injury, electric shock
Always pull the plug out of the socket be-
fore performing any type of work on the
machine!
8.1

Adjusting the cutting depth

Unscrew the rotary knob [11-2].
Move the saw up and down using the ro-
tary knob.
The indicator [11-1] shows the preset
cutting depth.
Tighten the rotary knob [11-2] at the re-
quired cutting depth.
Prior to use, check whether the actual and
indicated cutting depths are the same
(e.g. at 0 mm). If necessary, you can
loosen the screw [11-3] and realign the
cutting depth indicator.
8.2
Adjusting the stop
The accompanying stop can be attached to
all four sides of the machine (Fig. [12]).
The fence can be adjusted in the following
ways:
• Adjustment parallel to the bench edge -
unscrew the rotary knob [12-8].
• Adjustment at right angles to the bench
edge - unscrew the rotary knob [12-6].
• Adjustment of the stop ruler [12-1]
lengthways - unscrew the rotary knob
[12-4]. The stop ruler can be moved to a
lower position for thinner workpieces (Fig.
[12A]) or a higher position for thicker
workpieces (Fig. [12]).
• Angle adjustment using the scale [12-5] -
unscrew the rotary knob [12-3] and lift
the retaining pin [12-2]. The rotary re-
taining pin engages in the most common
angle positions.
Turning the retaining pin blocks the stop.
Make sure that all rotary knobs on the
stop are tightened before starting
work. The stop should always be used
in a fixed position and not to slide the
workpiece.

Working with the machine

Observe the following instructions:
Adjust the top protective cover until it
rests on the workpiece and secure in this
position using the rotary knob [9-2].
Use the fence as a longitudinal stop to
guide the workpiece.
You can adjust the cutting width using the
scales [10-1].
Guide the workpiece by hand. Use the
push stick [12-7] to guide the workpiece
safely past the saw blade. When not in
use, place the push stick in the store [12-
9].

Service and maintenance

WARNING
Risk of injury, electric shock
Always disconnect the mains plug from the
socket before performing maintenance
work on the machine!
All maintenance and repair work which re-
quires the motor housing to be opened
must only be carried out by an authorised
service workshop.
