General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
1) Workplace safety
a) Keep your workplace clean and well lit. Untidiness and unlit work areas can
lead to accidents.
b) Do not work with power tools in an explosive environment in which there
are infl ammable liquids, gases or dusts. Power tools produce sparks which
can ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep the power tools out of the rain and wet. Penetration of water into the
power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
2) Safety of persons
a) Be cautious, pay attention to what you are doing and use power tools
reasonably and responsibly. Do not use power tools when you are tired or
under the infl uence of drugs, alcohol or medicines. Just one careless moment
when using the power tool can lead to serious injury.
b) Wear personal safety equipment and always wear safety glasses. Wearing
personal safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, a safety
helmet or ear protectors reduces the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid accidental operation. Make sure that the device is switched off before
connecting it to the power supply, picking up or carrying it. Carrying the
electrical device with your fi nger on the switch or connecting it to the power supply
switched on can lead to accidents.
d) Avoid abnormal body posture. Make sure that you have a fi rm footing and
keep your balance at all times. You then have better control over the tool in
unexpected situations.
e) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or
long hair can get caught in moving parts.
f) Do not give yourself a false sense of security and do not ignore the safety
rules for power tools even when you are very familiar with the power tool
after frequent use. Careless actions can lead to serious injuries within fractions
of a second.
3) Use and handling of the power tool
a) Do not overload the tool. Use the power tool suitable for the work you are
doing. You can work better and safer in the specifi ed power range with the suit-
able power tool.
b) Do not use a power tool with a defective switch. A power tool which cannot
be switched on and off is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Keep power tools out of reach of children when not in use. Do not allow
persons to use the tool who are not familiar with it or have not read these
instructions. Power tools are dangerous when used by inexperienced persons.
d) Handle power tools with care. Check that the moving parts are working
perfectly and do not jam, that no parts are broken or damaged and that the
function of the power tool is not impaired. Have damaged parts repaired
before using the device. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained

power tools.
e) Use power tools, accessories and insert tools etc. according to these
instructions. Take the working conditions and activity being performed into
consideration. The use of power tools for purposes for which they are not
intended can lead to dangerous situations.
f) Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles prevent
safe handling and control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
4) Service
a) Have your power tool repaired only by qualifi ed technical personnel and
only with genuine spare parts. This ensures that the safety of the device is
maintained.
Safety instructions for tracking devices
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
● Please bear in mind that interference from the electromagnetic fi eld can
lead to mis-location and misinterpretations in determination of the position
and depth measurement to the camera head. Opening an incorrectly tracked
position will cause property damages.
● Check the position concerned for concealed supply lines with a suitable
fi nder before opening. Opening can damage or sever gas or water pipes,
electric cables or other objects. Damaged gas pipes can cause explosions.
Damaged water pipes and electric cables can damage property or cause electric
shocks.
● Pull the camera cable set completely out of the pipe before opening the
place concerned. This prevents the camera cable set from being damaged when
opening the place.
● Do not use the power tool if it is damaged. There is a danger of accident.
● Never let the power tool operate unattended. Switch off the power tool and
remove the batteries for longer work breaks. Electrical devices can cause
hazards which lead to material damage or injury when left unattended.
● Children and persons who, due to their physical, sensory or mental abilities
or lack of experience and knowledge are unable to operate the power tool
safely may not use this power tool without supervision or instruction by a
responsible person. Otherwise there is a risk of operating errors and injuries.
● Only allow trained persons to use the power tool. Apprentices may only use
the power tool when they are over 16, when this is necessary for their training
and when they are supervised by a trained operative.

Safety instructions for batteries

WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
● Protect batteries against heat, sunlight, fi re, moisture and wet. There is a
risk of explosion and fi re.
● Do not use batteries in areas where there is a risk of explosion and in the
vicinity of infl ammable gases, solvents, dust, fumes, liquids for example.
There is a risk of explosion and fi re.
● Do not open batteries and never modify their construction. There is a risk
of explosion and fi re due to short-circuiting.
● Do not use batteries with damaged housings or damaged contacts. Damage
to or improper use of batteries can cause fumes to escape. The fumes can irritate
the respiratory tracts. Let in fresh air and consult a doctor in case of symptoms.
● Fluid can leak from the battery when used improperly. Do not touch the
fl uid. Leaking fl uid can cause skin irritation and burns. Rinse off immediately
with water in case of contact. Also consult a doctor if the fl uid gets into the eyes.
● Keep unused batteries away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws
or other small metal objects which could cause bridging of the contacts.
There is a risk of explosion and fi re due to short-circuiting.
● Pay attention to the position of the plus and minus poles when inserting
the batteries. There is a risk of explosion and fi re due to short-circuiting.
● Remove the batteries from the locating device before longer periods of
inoperation/storage. Protect the battery contacts against short-circuiting, e.g.
with a cap. This reduces the risk of fl uids escaping from the battery.
● Do not throw defective batteries in the normal household waste. Hand the
defective batteries over to an authorised REMS contract service workshop or a
recognised disposal company. Observe the national regulations. See also page
6. Disposal
● Keep batteries out of reach of children. Batteries can be life threatening if
swallowed, seek medical assistance immediately.
● Avoid contact with leaking batteries. Leaking fl uid can cause skin irritation
and burns. Rinse off immediately with water in case of contact. Also consult a
doctor if the fl uid gets into the eyes.
● Take the batteries out of the power tool when they are empty. This reduces
the risk of fl uids escaping from the battery.
● Never recharge the batteries, open them, throw them on fi res or create a
short-circuit. The batteries can cause fi res and burst. There is a risk of injury.
