Standard setting
:
Switch off engine
:
Check the air filter and
replace it if necessary.
:
Check the spark arresting screen in
the muffler and clean or replace it if
necessary.
:
Carefully turn the high speed
adjusting screw (H) anticlockwise
as far as possible (max. 3/4 turn).
:
Carefully turn the low speed
adjusting screw (L) clockwise as far
as possible, then open it 1 turn.

Setting the idle speed
LA
Engine stops when idling
Set to standard setting!
:
Turn the idle speed adjusting
screw (LA) clockwise until the
abrasive wheel begins to turn, then
turn it back 1 turn
Abrasive wheel runs when idling
Set to standard setting!
:
Turn the idle speed adjusting
screw (LA) anticlockwise until the
abrasive wheel stops running,
then turn it another 1 turn in the
same direction.
Erratic idling behaviour, poor
acceleration
Idle speed setting is too lean (e.g. at low
ambient temperature):
Turn the low speed adjusting screw (L)
approx. 1/4 turn anticlockwise until the
engine runs and accelerates smoothly.
English / USA
Idle speed cannot be increased
sufficiently via the idle speed
adjusting screw (LA), engine stops
when changing from part-load to idle
speed
:
Turn low speed adjusting screw (L)
approx. 1/4 turn clockwise.
Correcting the carburetor setting
for use at high altitudes
The setting may have to be marginally
corrected if the engine performance is
unsatisfactory at high altitudes.
:
Check the standard setting.
:
Let the engine warm up.
:
Set idle speed correctly.
:
Turn the high speed adjusting
screw (H) clockwise (leaner).
The screws should only be adjusted
carefully and as little as possible. The
slightest adjustment produces a tangible
difference in engine behaviour.
If the setting is too lean, the
engine may be damaged by
overheating and a shortage of
lubricant.
